We had the good fortune of connecting with Zero . and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Zero, why did you pursue a creative career?
I chose to pursue an artistic career because I feel like it’s the most freedom that anybody can have in terms of being successful. It gives you a lot more room to be yourself, & to be original. You don’t have to stick to normalities like others in the working world. It definitely brings a challenge, but at least the challenge happens to be fun while working on whatever it may be.
Please tell us more about your art. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
My art just a form of abstract expressionism mainly for myself, & others if they happen to like it. I wouldn’t say it sets me apart from anyone because everybody’s art is different in itself. I’m definitely proud of the scale in which I’ve been creating, the size of the canvas, as well as the number of them. Also very proud of the amount of shows I was able to throw from 2020-2021, looking to do more this year. Ive gotten to where I am today through consistency in my art style, & purely being myself, talking to people & getting to know others within the underground community. I wouldn’t say anything about it was necessarily easy, but I’ve had a lot of support along the way, & art on its own is my therapy so I tend to be okay regardless. A lesson I’ve learned is that attempting to be somebody you’re not will only get you so far, originality is key. There isn’t much of a story to tell, I’ve just been creating through thick & thin, & I plan to keep doing so.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Old Fourth Ward / The Belt Line, the skatepark is always a vibe, & you never really know what you’ll see going on over there. It’s a pretty accepting place for anybody though. Definitely gotta go through Upbeet and grab some food in Midtown, they got the best & probably the freshest food I’ve eaten around here. I’d have to hangout around Siix where I work on all my creative stuff at. It’s where I’m most comfortable for sure.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First, I gotta shoutout my partner, @itsmumblebee (Mumblebee) she always tends to push me hard in whatever it is I’m working on at the current moment, & never really let’s my head hang low, the support has been amazing. Secondly, shoutout to @siixagency, they’ve allowed me to have a space to just freely create, work on myself, & my art in general, whether it comes to shows or just building inventory itself. Definitely a great group of people to be around.
