We had the good fortune of connecting with J’Quain and Shemesha Broadwater and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi J’Quain and Shemesha, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
Together we are MEQUE ‘S Mesha and Que. This year together for 5 years married for 3 Shemesha- I’m from a small town in Alabama called Atmore. I grew up in a house hold of 11. With 9 kids and 2 adult. 5bdrm/2bth home with lots of love but keeping up with the latest trends and fashion was not a priority. Food ,water, lights and manners and respect . We would do each other’s hair as we started to get older and set our rooms up like the salons to do our own hair and nails . And I’ve been doing it ever since . My oldest will be 15 this year and has NEVER been to a salon/ stylist besides me ! -J’Quain- I’m from Augusta about 2hrs away from the A. I grew up an only child with a lot of time on my hands to get into all my moms hair products while she was at work. My love for hair came with the fashion of the early 90’s. My dad would take me to the og’s barbershop until I realized my box fade wasn’t a box fade. My mother was going to a younger salon that spoke to me and my era, the young barber in the back Rob began cutting my hair and teaching me to cut at the same time. 20+ years later here I am a barber and groomsman.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
We sat out to bring comfort and closeness to relationships , rather it’s a husband/ wife, father/ daughter, mother/son. We work together to show people that it can be done. You can like and love your significant other. You can be married to your best friend. When you come to get a hair cut bring your wife to get her hair done, Build a bond between you and your kids when you come get your hair braided bring your son to get a cut .This wasn’t easy to start ….money has not always been good but by Gods grace in 2020 we were able to quit our 9/5 and become our own bosses. There are times we still think one of us should get a job until we get completely where we want to be but most 9-5’s only stop your dreams. Our journey hasn’t been easy but with the love and mindset we have for what we do we will continue our journey to show people it can be done. We want to be an inspiration to young couples and the youth as a whole.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We will most definitely have to take them to the spot that has NEVER let us down yet . Pappadeaux -Norcross location for food. Drinks we gone take them to New Orleans Daiquiri Bar & Grill on Old National for good drinks . And the best place over all our basement for the best music, laughs, dancing just an all around good time. Sometimes someone may be over for a party and ask for a line up . It’s our comfort zone.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We want to give recognition to our loyal supporters. Those that come for great product in-spite an occasional price change. Those that come before they go to any other stylist. Those that share our work and those that are our work! It’s too many to name … We are truly Blessed to have each and every one of our family members, and clients .
