We had the good fortune of connecting with Terese Fields and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Terese, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
My end goal is to be one of the top Black-owned Staging and Redesign companies in the South. By the end of my career, I want to have built a reputable company that can stand the test of time well after I decide to retire. Outside of my passion for design, I am building NÖIRE Staging and Design for my children. I want them to see what hard work and dedication to what you love can get you. creating generational wealth where my children and their children to come never have to work for anyone else if they choose not to because they will have a family business they can work for or run, and if they choose not to do either of those and decide to create their own lane they will have the skillset and knowledge to do so.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is Interior Styling and Staging, I love bringing blank and not so pretty spaces to life. I consider my style and brand Contemporary Luxe, where I mixed the clean and curved lined pieces with luxurious textures and accent pieces. I believe that having a beautifully styled home should not be limited to the rich and famous because let’s face it we don’t all have it like that but we do all deserve to feel like we do, so I love to mix both affordable and high-end pieces in my designs to give the luxury look and on a budget. In my opinion, good design is relative, and as long as you love and are happy with what is in your space then you designed a great space. I’m always proud and excited to see and hear clients’ reactions to my work on their spaces, their joy and happiness is always confirmation for me that I am doing what I was meant to do. Getting where I am today has definitely not been easy, it’s definitely been trial and error, lots of tears, sleepless nights, hard work, and dedication and I’m still nowhere close to the goals I’ve set for myself professionally. But I’ve seen growth and I absolutely love what I do so that gives me the strength to overcome. I’ve learned that when you work for yourself and love what you do it will never feel like work and that not everyone will believe in you but as long as you believe yourself that’s all that matters.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We definitely do brunch at Ruby Sunshine a New Orleans-inspired restaurant, do some shopping, and have drinks and dinner at Mico in the Grand Bohemian.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Yes, I would love to give a Shoutout to my husband Jerell Fields. He is a successful Real Estate Agent in North and South Carolina and is the owner of NÖIRE Real Estate Group and he is goals honestly. I’ve seen him build his company from the ground up and he is a huge inspiration and the reason I had the courage to turn my passion for interiors and design into a career.
