We had the good fortune of connecting with Lawrence-Vonzail Odom and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lawrence-Vonzail, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
Success should be measured on an individual scale. Your success is predicated on your level of desired goals and aspiration. How do you find success? You discover it from within and it starts with knowing your purpose! How do you cultivate purpose? You maximize every moment, every opportunity day by day. Success is an inner fulfillment of ones hopes dreams and desires.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My success was birthed out of a place of fear! Fear that turned into faith. 2011 I faced fear and took the leap and drove to NYC, w I was given an opportunity to intern at BET 106& park and had a week to respond after an extensive 3 month love interview process. With the support and prayers of my grandmother I knew God opened this door and the what if’s were not my concern. I knew no one there and had no idea where I would sleep! All I had was a suitcase and a car, and that became my shelter unit something opened up. All I knew is I had to get there and trust God to provide the rest. This internship turned into an invitation to work the BET AWARDS for 9 years and where I builder majority of my professional work relationships. Over coming challenges is a daily process everyday is some level of challenge but as you grow you gain strength to handle, resolve and work through these things! No level of success comes with out challenges and every level you achieve come with new level of challenges. One of the most impactful lessons I’ve learned through this journey is their are hundreds of thousands of people in your same field and area of concentration but there is only one you! There is no one in this world who can do what you do like you do it. Your success has your fingerprint and there’s not one other person who can claim the DNA of your success! Only you can claim it!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Ooh I enjoy entertaining my out of towner guests. Although I have become a homebody Atlanta has so much to offer. But my itinerary for visitors always begin with the MLK historical district, I firmly believe every child, every adult and all nationality and race should visit the place where the great DR. Martin Luther King rest. We are today because of the legacy of love he fought for back then. So that’s stop #1. When it comes to entertainment and food my go to are breakfast the Atlanta breakfast club, lunch Hattie Marie’s BBQ, and dinner most definitely juicy crab. Just to name a few. I also visit the aquarium, coco cola museum, scooter rides on the belt line and Piedmont park are always my favorite. The botanical garden and the ponce city markets, oh and slutty vegan. These are the top go to’s. And on a Tuesday a visitation to Rock hill church where Sunni badu pastors is always a great time and if it’s a first Sunday my home church Belong atl where Labryant and phenika friend are mines and my wife’s pastors. There are so many other places we can go but these are my typical go too’s.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My wife Elizabeth Komba Odom who continuously supports me and encourages me to keep pushing. Also gabby Maddox who has extremely helped me get connected here in Atlanta and is responsible for me booking my first celebrity client Mimi Faust, which has cultivated a 4 year working relationship.
