We had the good fortune of connecting with Anthony Wilson Jr and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anthony, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I pursued an artistic career because I can truly be myself. It’s a part of who I am! I’ve always tried to run away from singing but life seems to bring me back to it. It’s something I can do effortlessly and actually enjoy doing it! I would sing all day if my voice allowed me too.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Singing is something everybody can’t do. When I first realized I knew how to sing, I wasn’t comfortable with my voice and how I sounded. Growing up, I had never won any awards for singing or never sung lead in the choir which made me feel like I wasn’t good enough at times. Being able to sing isn’t easy at all, especially how R&B is constantly changing. The R&B I grew up on is nothing like the R&B I’m hearing today. Although I’ve been through some difficult times singing, it brings me joy, peace and comfort in knowing other people are relating to my music. I’ve learned to never give up on your dreams. Chase them by means necessary. You never know where your talents will get you. I would like the world to know that I appreciate everyone and that I’m only going to get better at my craft!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would love to take my friends to The Goodz, The Gold Room Lounge and downtown to bar hop. Trying new eating places is top of my list. Hattie Marie’s BBQ is one place I have on my list to try soon. I love the Atlanta nightlife. Everyone’s out having a good time and living their lives. I would also take them to Lenox Mall or Sak’s Fifth. Those are my 2 favorite shopping spots.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shoutout my support system. My family, friends and fans has been there every step of the way during my music journey. I would like to give special recognition to a company I work closely with, Numella Streaming Services. They’re based out of Chicago. When I started my music career, they’ve helped me every step of the way and helped me get my music out there faster. They also helped me with some artist development tips. I would highly recommend anyone who’s looking to get their music out there fast and also for some guidance on what to do.
