Hi Monét, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I started MonètKasseen & Co because I wanted to really help my small business owners and content creators. We see so many people on social media saying they want to help but they aren’t. I started this business to really teach people how to utilize their social media platforms effectively. I wanted to teach people it’s more to social media than being messy. You can make thousands of dollars on here in so many different ways.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I really truly do it all. And things that I don’t know, I immediately try to learn. When I first started in this industry, I was trying to assume every role! Now as I’ve niched down during the year I finally stepped into the roles that I’m extremely comfortable playing. I am a social media strategist and publicist. The difference between me and other strategists and publicists in my opinion is how much I invest and care. I’ve done work for free so many times just because I want you to succeed. When you come to work or collab with me, it’s always an experience you won’t ever forget. It took a lot for me to get to this spot. Like I’ve stated before, I’ve had to prove myself a lot and put myself in spaces where I was nervous but I wanted to show I had what It takes. It took a lot for me to be recognized and that’s not what I cared about. As long as the work was done and it was working I’m a happy camper. Hard work does not go unnoticed but I’ve also learned don’t be a fool. I want MK&Co to continue growing. I eventually want to turn my business into a talent acquisition firm. I just have big dreams and I plan on making them all come true.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When my friends come into town all they care about is the food!! Like we are the brunch bandits! We enjoy the museums like the selfie museum, a weekend with us looks like Friday night dinner, I’m a pasta feign so I need it any time of the day or week. Since all of my friends are content creators like me, we like to go to all the different attractions just for a photo op. The botanical gardens, Ponce station, gurl mobb museum lol.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
When it came down to me starting my business and charging my worth, I’m so grateful for my tribe of marketers. For pushing me to be my best self and for helping me realize the value that I bring to my community. A special thank you goes to Kayla Jones, who is like my second brain when it comes to business. She’s been here every step of the way and I’m forever grateful for her.
