Meet Olivia Charles | Body Waxing & Body Contouring

We had the good fortune of connecting with Olivia Charles and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Olivia, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
Im from Kingston, Jamaica. Even though, I grew up in a third world country, I always knew I was destined for greatness. I grew up with my moms side of the family. My aunt owned a beauty salon attached to the family home where I spent most of my time as a child. My mother always said she knew I would be in the beauty industry; as a toddler while being at the salon, i would take the extra hair extensions and finger nails laying around and apply them on myself. So basically, its in me, not on me Lol . Consciously, for me my passion for the beauty industry sparked when me and my immediate family moved to American and my mom started selling Mary Kay products. That was like winter wonder land for me.
At 15 years old my moms sister who was an esthetician at the time asked me if she could practice a Brazilian wax on me. I literally had no idea what that was. Being the open, & bubbly person that I am, I was like sure why not? That experience triggered my interest in waxing. I was like “Omg, I’m so soft &smooth! what is this witchery! lol “. Obsessed with the results I went and bought a at home wax kit and tried the service on myself. One word, traumatic ! yet, I was still so fascinated by waxing and how it worked.
I honestly never thought I would be working in the beauty industry. I looked at everything I was doing as expressive relief. I didn’t know which direction I was heading and one day everything just clicked and I decided to attend Esthetic school to furthered my knowledge.
After esthetician school I worked a few places but I planted my roots in waxing. I started working at a local wax center to master my craft. Being that my mother and father are entrepreneurs and have been running a successful businesses for 16 years, and growing up in my aunts beauty salon, naturally I was inspired to open Livvy’s Beauty Studio.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
Livvys Beauty Studio is a salon suite that offer body waxing with additional services such as brow tint, brow lamination that enhance your natural brows & nonsurgical body contouring which it a fat reduction procedure. I specializes in waxing, its my niche. I have a no hair get left behind policy lol. I pride myself on educating my clients on the overall health, and look of their honey pot. I sell high preforming product to fight against ingrown hair and hyperpigmentation and offer vajacial to soothe irritated skin, removes dead skin cells, and get rid of bacteria, all to maintain healthy and hydrated skin in the vaginal area.
After reading this quote from Napoleon Hill “Do not wait: the time will never be ‘just right’. Start where you stand, and work whatever tools you may have at your command and better tools will be found as you go along.” I knew I had to put action behind my words. I started my business off being mobile & 3 months later put my deposit down for my now suite. Theres nothing easy about starting and running a business but its sure is worth it. Once you start, you just learn as you go. When unexpected challenges would rare its ugly head, I learn to pivot. Being that I’m solo it can be overwhelming having to do everything my self, (marketing, finance, service provider, etc) Its a LOT. I learn to give myself time to breath so I can operate with a clear head. Its important to practice self care or you’ll burn out.
I love what I do. I literally wake up every morning to do what I am most passionate about. I love helping & nurturing women because as a women are bodys are literally a portal of life and should be handled with care

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would I like dedicate this to my mother and father for showing me the importance of hard work, for always having my back no matter what. To my sister Debra for always encouraging me & helping me on my journey to starting my business. I would also like to shoutout my cousin Sharonda, Shannon, and Nicole allowing me to practice on them lol .
