We had the good fortune of connecting with Miazza Walker and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Miazza, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
My main focus is currently my business. Everything else is a second priority to me.
What should our readers know about your business?
MiazzaCouture is a Black woman owned luxury custom crochet business. I am a luxury crochet fashion designer. I specialize in custom-made trendy and unique pieces. My style sets me apart from others, My designs are out of the box. Also, I don’t fit the typical crochet demographic; my age sets me apart! I am proud of myself for staying consistent and always believing in my abilities. I started selling American girl doll clothes and headbands to my friends and kept expanding. When I began making clothes, I started promoting on instagram. Once my instagram became successful, I built my website. I am where I am today because I remained committed and consistent. It was not easy! I am still challenged today but I am determined to persevere. When I face challenges, I reminded of myself of my dream and vision. I have learned to stay true to myself and remain consistent.
I would like the world to know that I am passionate about what I do. I am committed to my clients. I pray for God’s favor daily and I hope that MiazzaCouture will be a world renown brand one day!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
For brunch I would take her to the Flying Biscuit. I would take them to Atlantic Station to hang out and for dinner I would take her to Atlantic Station.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
When think about where I am in life, the person I want to shoutout to is my G-Ma. My G-Ma is the person who taught me how to crochet at 7 years old. My G-Ma was a crafter and introduced me to the world of crochet. I took what she taught me and expanded on it. My G-Ma is also super supportive of everything that I do. I would also like to recognize my mom, she supported me financially when I first started, she ships orders, and picks up yarn. When I was in 5th grade my mom got me an interview with Maya Penn who at the time was a young entrepreneur who has gone on to be featured on Disney, 21 under 21, and TED Talks!
