We had the good fortune of connecting with Raina Josephs and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Raina, what is the most important factor behind your success?
This is an interesting question. Many things come to mind and it’s hard to choose one. There’s  a saying that goes, success is where preparation meets opportunity. That’s kinda true for me. I’d like to add my own twist to that, success for me is where passion meetings timing. Honestly, I found opportunity in the height of the pandemic and my passion for food made it easy for me to succeed.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Food blogging and the dramatic growth of my social media platform is creating even more opportunities including corporate collaborations. It’s amazing to think all of this started with my love for food. For me it’s more than just great tastes and colors; it conjures up thoughts of family, love and comfort. As I followed my passion, I also listened to my audience who wanted more. More recipes, more details and even more of my voice. I have learned from other business endeavors to listen to my customers and audience. That’s when my passion turned into something which brings so much pleasure and joy to others. It’s a dream come true.

There was no free pass for me, I have had lots of challenges along the way. Stradling tenacity and hard work, I pulled through every obstacle. There are times when I felt like I was in deep over my head, but I was determined to overcome. I refused to give up. And that’s what I’d say to anyone working on their own dream, never give up.
Something else that helps me stand out is being consistent. No matter what your business is or what industry you serve, you must keep watering the seeds and doing the work. I saw this watching my family run their restaurant. I put those lessons to work in my life and business.
I have also learned the power of giving back. Generosity is my superpower and my business strategy. I love giving back to my community and those around me. I do it because I love to do it, but I’m also certain it has opened up doors and opportunities for me throughout my career.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I work hard and play hard and always in that order. Because I absolutely love what I do. The kitchen is the heart of my home—everything happens there. I see us, my best friend and I cooking and sharing stories there. Once cooking is completed, we’ll enjoy our meal in my backyard where I created my very own tropical oasis. Georgia is fun and a great place for you to have a great vacation with a jam-packed itinerary. Must-go spots for my high-energy friend will be all of my favorite picks including hiking up Kennesaw Mountain, a few swings at Top Golf, a full body massage in Buckhead. No trip would be complete without swinging by my mom’s restaurant Fern Gully Jamaican Cafe in Kennesaw, Ga and some wild fun at Rum Punch Brunch.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
It’s never just one thing that leads to success. Yet, when it comes to my success I automatically think about my mother—Patricia Josephs. That may sound cliché but my mother is first mentor and #1 cheerleader.

From championships to career, her support made all the difference for me. She was there when I broke athletic records at North Cobb High School and when I went on to crush Sales targets at AT&T. But hands down my mom inspired me the most by supporting me as I became a first-time mom. Just watching her excel as working should-to-shoulder with my dad as serial small business owners motivated me to succeed. Her stellar work ethic made me realize early on that hard work pays off.
