We had the good fortune of connecting with Shavetta Belton and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shavetta, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
To be honest for as long as I can remember I’ve wanted to be a cosmetologist. It wasn’t until I was about 15 I started to dream of owning multiple salons. While my cousins were picking college’s I was dreaming of owning salons. So the process behind staring my own business was a dream and faith that it could be; mixed with a heavy dose of hard work. I am a Christian so God plays a factor in it all. He said it was time and I stepped out there on faith. I didn’t have all the money, I didn’t have a place or a team but I had the promise of God.
What should our readers know about your business?
I view both of my salons Divine Oasis Salon as a ministry. It’s a safe haven for new and mature stylist that are looking to grow mentally, physically and emotionally. I am a strong believer that if your insides aren’t in order your business won’t be it’s best. Our ministry is in our hands so we help our clients by loving, caring and working on helping them see a better them. My coaching business is me helping people do the inner work to gain full freedom. So many of us are trapped in bondage from people, rules and ideas of the world! Our true freedom comes in breaking free from those things and because I am a believer I also believe that freedom comes in knowing Jesus Christ. However I am open to coaching everyone that is assigned to me. Your beliefs will never keep me from sharing what I have inside. My motivational/inspirational speaking is my opportunity to share my story and life experiences with the world! If you ask me what I enjoy the most it’s this part. My dream is to travel the world and share by way of motivational and inspirational speaking. I also have a morning show Take a Sip of Morning Motivation; it comes on every Wednesday at 7:00am est time. I am a business owner but I started working for Paul Mitchell the School Columbia December 2020. In March I became the Education Leader, a three year plan that happen in three months!!!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If you like sports I enjoy the Fire Fly games (our baseball team). I love Soda City on Saturday mornings; they have the best local food, products and flowers. I love to EAT… Good Life Cafe, Cafe Strudel, Mr.Seafood, Halls Chop House, Dirty V food truck, Fresh by J and it’s so many more!!!!!!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband Anthony Belton and my children Anthony and Morgan. My mother and father Sylvester and Naomi Geiger. My sisters, my godmother Janice Anderson-Hoyle and so many mentors and friends that have supported me along the way. I am to scared to call names because I may forget one and their ALL to important to forget!!!!
