We had the good fortune of connecting with Visionary Thoughts and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Visionary Thoughts, how do you think about risk?
What is a life well-lived without ever taking risks? I honestly, think that it is impossible to experience personal development and growth without taking risks. Nobody knows the future, so we are always going to be in a position where we have to make decisions that will either propel us into direction that nurtures our growth or harms it. As an artist/content creator, risk-taking has been one of the main ingredients that has helped me evolve in the expressive arts realm. Art is fluid and extremely unpredictable. There isn’t a definite structure or “set of rules” in this profession. Much of my success has come from trial and error until I eventually find a rhythm/style that works for me. Additionally, I’m an artist who creates content that promotes God, and that isn’t something that is necessarily “popular” these days. When I decided to be a content creator that openly expresses love for the Most High, I knew I was taking a risk of potentially being rejected or hated for it. However, I think that when one is truly solidified in themself and holds true to their beliefs; taking risks (although hard at times) becomes slightly easier as it starts to become a necessary part of everyday life. Risk-taking also forces me to broaden my horizons and explore distinct facets of creativity. I don’t always want to stay in a specific niche, and that is shown by how versatile my art is. Lastly, risk-taking has also been a big factor on my journey to breaking free from generational curses and limiting beliefs that have been holding me back for the majority of my life.

Please tell us more about your art. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally? Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way? What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
This is a packed question, so I will try to concise it to the best of my ability! I would say that from an early age, I realized that I was different because I never fit into any “cliques”. Often, I felt like the “oddball out” but still, managed to make connections with various types of people. However, I believe that these feelings that I internalized as a child, came from the fact that I had a distinct view on life, in comparison to many of my peers. I was always the kid to question everything because I genuinely wanted answers to the aspects of life that were considered “deep” for my age. I also remember how people (students and teachers) would always commend me on how creative I was and how I had an “old soul”.

Now, as a child, I didn’t fully understand what that phrase meant. However, as I started to discover my identity, and mature as a young adult; I now truly understand the magnitude of that simple statement and how it relates to what I’m doing now. Now, you asked: What makes me stand out? Well, I believe that what I produce as an artist/content creator, is unique because I try to capture all emotions in my art. The experience of mankind is very complex, and nobody will ever understand it fully.

However, through my creative work, I challenge myself to break down difficult concepts of life, in a way that everyone can relate to. I use art (poetry, writing, music, film etc.) as a way to bridge gaps between individuals from various walks of life. Furthermore, my view on life has also been another way in which I am able to stand out from other content creators. I have noticed that many of them are not addressing the deeper parts of life (both spiritual and carnal) that play a heavy influence in our decision-making/interactions with others. In addition, I must note that I do not find my inspiration on my own. I receive all my ideas on how to communicate with the world, through the Holy Spirit. God has a way of opening up eyes up each time I start to create, which allows me to gain a new perspective on the world. As one will see, all of my art is spirit led, so there will always be an underlying message that connects back to the Most High.

Personally, one of the ways I like to describe us humans, is by saying that we are “spirits housed in mortal frames”. I use this phrase, that I’ve created, as a way to express the complexity of our existence. I think one of the major problems that is occurring in society right now is the fact that many people do not find any value in life. Societal/social views are mainly carnal, so therefore, most people miss out on experiencing the beauty that they could have obtained if only they had decided to adopt a spiritual perspective of life, that manifests itself into this physical realm. This journey is not easy, and it is still filled with many challenges and obstacles.

However, I know that I can overcome the difficulties that I face, through the strength that God gives me, along with the great support system that I have. A major lesson that I have learned along the way, is to stay true to yourself. Your journey is unique to you and not everyone is going to support/understand it and that is ok. My advice to everyone would be to keep pushing. Do not give up on your dream(s), just because you don’t see instant results. Consistency and patience are key, and it goes a long way. Lastly, if you create from a heart of purity and humbleness, you will always reap the rewards of your hard work in due time.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc. In your view what are some of the most fun, interesting, exciting people, places, or things to check out?
Personally, I like doing simple things with a divine purpose. I don’t think that a vacation or trip has to always be extravagant and recently I’ve been gravitating towards spending a lot of my time in nature. So, to answer the question, I would probably be exploring the outdoors with my best friend (who also loves nature). If I was going on a week-long trip, then we would spend some time in the mountains because we are more creative when we immerse ourselves in nature. In addition, as content creators, we would both want to film and gather as much footage as possible while we are in the mountains. To be specific, I would take them to the Great Smoky Mountains sometime between mid-October to late December because the scenery around this time of the year is impeccable.

Alright, so let’s jump right in! The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love, and encouragement of others. So, is there a person, group, organization, book, etc. that you want to dedicate your shoutout to? Who else deserves a little credit and recognition in your story?
To begin, I must thank God for providing me with the opportunity to be in this position. I know that my life wouldn’t be the same without the Most High guiding me every step of the way. Sometimes, I am truly dumbfounded by how much I’ve grown in life thus far. My mindset has shifted greatly in the past few years because God has been gradually shaping me and while simultaneously revealing to me what my purpose is. That’s why I take what I do so seriously because I know that this journey is greater than myself. God has placed amazing individuals in my life, as a support system to encourage me to keep pushing and striving to be better than yesterday. I am a firm believer in surrounding yourself with people who are eager to improve and reach their goals. It’s honestly very motivating to have people in my corner who are also goal-driven and hungry to succeed in all aspects of life (physically, mentally, spiritually etc.).

The first person who I would like to shoutout in this interview would be my sister, who has been supporting me on this journey since day one, literally! We’ve been through thick and thin so I know she is someone who I can always count on. In addition, I’d like to shoutout Nautica Lowe. Nautica is one of my good friends who was actually the one who went through this interview process before I did and in fact recommended me to be a part of this opportunity. She has also been very loyal and supportive and has aided me greatly in my creative endeavors, along with witnessing my growth, from when I first started immersing myself in the expressive arts. I would also like to recognize/thank two of my other close friends: Josh Mikombo and Taylor Trice. Josh and Taylor have also been loyal supporters of me, on my journey, and they continue to encourage me to improve and further hone my craft. So, I’m really grateful to have them all in my life.
