We had the good fortune of connecting with Tashae Moss and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tashae, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The thought process behind starting my business actually began with me just having a feeling that I was destined for something bigger I always knew I wanted to be someone who had the potential to make a change in the world but didn’t exactly know how to go about it. Working so many jobs I automatically knew that I wanted to be my own boss. After reading this particular book( John Mason “Be Yourself. Discover the life you were meant to live”) that was given to me by a friend, shouts out to you Vee) I started to gain more clarity about purpose, what does it mean to live a purposeful life and how to find your own. So after reading this book I started to do some evaluating of myself and identifying my strengths, gifts/talents because whatever I was going to start I was going to make sure that the foundation of it was filled with purpose. So I thought how could I do something I love while providing others with an experience as well. After evaluating myself and my life I realized that Fashion and providing unique, positive perspective to my peers were some of the things that brought me fulfillment and freedom . After identifying the things that I were great at I decided that I wanted to start my own clothing brand that provides more than just clothes. I wanted my brand to speak to people, provide them with motivation/inspiration, purpose along with quality and stylish pieces. So then I came up with my name and just went from there. I didn’t know much about the fashion industry so I kind of just jumped in with little knowledge all I had was my vision and I jumped. Sometimes you don’t have to know every little detail to start something because most times you wont learn everything you need to know by only researching. You have to be actually doing it to learn certain things!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a natural born creative. I adore the idea of being in creative spaces whether its putting stylish looks together or its snapping pictures of beautiful sceneries. Along with being a visionary I am also a choreography dancer. I have been performing and dancing since I was an infant and again, its something that brings me so much joy and fulfillment. What sets me apart from others is that I operate from a creative and genuine space. Everything that I touch has purpose behind it and that is something I am truly proud of. I am a server, I get excited about providing others with a different perspective, providing them with experiences that will just simply make them feel good about themselves. I get excited knowing that I have given someone anything to assist with their personal growth journeys and that is what my brand ultimately consists of. I must say that some of the main things that got me here today was persistency, keeping the vision in mind no matter what circumstances I faced. I had to learn how to be uncomfortable at times, I had to be able to sacrifice as well I also had to be willing to let some people go. No it has not been easy one bit, some days I get discouraged and some days I lose my faith in the vison but ultimately I’ve made sure that I keep going. Along my journey I have learned that its important to know who you are, what you want and what you need. Another valuable lesson that I have learned along this journey was to be true to myself, making sure that my cup was full because your journey itself will indeed be efficient to someone else’s so I had to be one with self first. I had to soon understand my worth, values and the power that I held as an individual to be able to operate form a place of purpose and follow my dreams. What I want the world to know about my brand is that it goes beyond selling products, it is intended to touch as many people and possibly be a catalyst in someone else’s journey. We are here to serve and as a fashion brand owner I intend to serve others with the belief that no matter where you come from or what you have been through, we all were meant for greatness. And sometimes it takes for you to be great to be able to inspire those younger girls with big dreams that she too can be great!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my bestfriend was visiting the area we would first make a stop is the dance studio and have a release session. since all of my friends are dancers anyway. After that I’d take her to Slutty Vegan for their good vegan burger and fries. Tuesday we will go to the Infamous Escobar for some good vibes, good drinks and hookah. Wednesday will more of a chill day so we may go to the spa for some facials and massages Thursday we would have to go to the Infamous Magic City for some live entertainers it will most definitely be a trip highlighter. On Friday I’d take her to Bowlero for some light fun. Saturday we will go to a ATL Food Truck Park for some vegan food and Sunday we rest, eat and watch movies all day lol.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would first like to shout out my family for their love and support. Even when they couldn’t fully understand my vision, they still show support by giving me advice and keeping motivated. John Mason is a published author, his book (“Be Yourself Discover the Life You Were Meant to Live”) were one of the first books that I have read and after reading it it changed my entire perspective on life itself. It spoke to me about purpose. Also as I stated before a friend of mine, Vee, I would love to give a shoutout to her because we connected on a soul level, she helped me understand things about myself that I’v never thought of and she was actually the one who passed this book on to me that changed my perspective and broaden my thought process. I also want to shoutout my High School step team coach Ms. Bailey, having her as my coach taught me so much more than about step, she taught me valuable lessons about life, woman hood and the basic keys to success. Being on that step team in High School was the absolute best times of my life and has a lot to do with who I am today. Last but not least my soul sister Kayla, we also connected on a deeper level, a spiritual level and not only did she genuinely encourage me throughout my journey but she helped me realize my true power as an individual. I am so grateful for every single person who have supported me thus far whether it was a purchase or a shoutout, I am truly grateful.
