We had the good fortune of connecting with 14 Mafia and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi 14, what do you attribute your success to?
Most factors may be important to lots of people but there are only a couple that stood out to us as 14 Mafia. The first factor we’d like to shine light upon is the importance of a structured schedule, which allows us to do all the material and ideas we’d dream to create while still be able to be a social life with others at the same time. For example, we as a team designated every Wednesday and Friday as “14 Mafia Day”, which is a group decision to be productively involved in 14 Mafia’s business, regardless any other situations that may be present at the time. The next factor that we as a team act heavily on is the importance of constantly investing in our craft. Such as clothing investments, music promotional & visual opportunities. and lastly knowing the importance of failure brought light to the success of our brand. Failing often gets over looked by people and gets seen as being “the end” or that it’s too discouraging to keep pursuing what you believe in, but its actually apart of the first step into your future! We use failure and self reflection to fuel our creativity and it pushes us to never let a “loss” stop us. And last but not least, developing good marketing strategies is an important factor, if not the most important factor we use as a team. In our case of marketing strategies our team focus is on doing the research and finding those people who are carrying out work behind the scenes of artist we idolize today. We know that behind every big artist, is an even bigger business man/women so we work on our connections continuously!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
14 Mafia is an upcoming artist group of 3 collective artist from Buffalo New York, Darius foster 21 (Whou), Tayvion Nelson 21 (TayDaMessiah) & Hassen Moody 19 (Chip DMA). What sets the Mafia apart from other artist is the fact that we don’t set limitations on our creative range and we challenge ourselves to continuously break barriers within our music, regardless of the expectations from others. One thing that we are most proud of are is our longevity and our persistence to keep going, especially with all the trials that we have endured. Many steps were important to us getting to where we are now, but the one thing that took us to the next level was not being afraid to fail, and instead seized the opportunity to improve in ,not only music or business, but in life as well. If we had to say just one, we’d want to let the world know that we are breaking through the societal norms when it comes to creating art and self expression, we only care to spread positivity and were doing everything to provide more people/artist like us a chance to be heard like we have now!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Although Buffalo is filled with plenty of talent, we can only shine the light on those we’ve been in touch with since the beginning. With that being said, we want to shoutout the whole “Chakra Bar Studios” family for helping us “kickstart” our career and helped us create a unison sound that we can proudly push. This group includes Keydolla, Molotov Mall, JustFree, Million Dollar Muzik (HouseBoy Kash & Greedy Money), Madface Mossburg, J50, Brodii2Raw, Jay Exodus, and BeatCheffs. We’d loved to shoutout “Blind Theory” created by Lindsay Barlett, which was and still is, our biggest artist development outlet. We want to also shoutout “FilmedByBritt” created by Brittany Lawson for being the most professional and consist videographer that we have had to chance to collab with, as she provided great points of view that has helped us transition our creative thought process from mind to media. plus Britt has the option of a personal photographer by the the name “Doublee.Photography”, created by Errol Evans. Another great photographer that we’ve worked heavily with is “Steven Pictures” created by Steven Phengsomphane, who is young, uprising photographer from the 716 area. Lastly, we love to shoutout of 14 Mafia team which includes Divine The Rapper, Marcus, Briana, Manny, Martin, Freeman, Christian, Jahzel, Ibrahim, and DayDay Ink King.
