We had the good fortune of connecting with Denia Durden and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Denia, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
As a hairstylist, I am able to make an impact on multiple lives daily just by helping them feel beautiful. It’s more than a hairstyle, it’s a form of self care. I also enjoy the response when my clients look in the mirror and they feel good.

What should our readers know about your business?
At Salon Nia Sade’ Beauty and Hair Loss beauty is what connects me and clients, but I am able to share with them hair care tips as well as inspire them to want to live a healthier lifestyle overall. I am all about making each client feel important whether it’s for hairstyling or hair loss. Everyone gets their own personal session. I build relationships with my clients so they trust that I am always providing them with the best service for their needs.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would definitely recommend we go to Top Golf, I love the laid back vibe and food.

We would definitely eat at Sri Thai at Atlantic Station.

Ponce City Market is definitely on the list because it’s a really nice place to hang out, eat and enjoy the view.

We have to go to Cinnaholic for Cinnabons lol.

And I would definitely take them to relax at Heavenly Foot Massage for the best foot massage ever!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My step dad. I have always remembered how he would say, “just make sure you can take care of yourself”. He grew up in a time where everyone worked a career where there were benefits and early on he didn’t understand why I wanted to be a hairstylist; he was concerned about my stability. I remember about a year before he passed I purchased a 1997 Honda Accord and sent him a pictuere- he called me and said, “I like your new ride. I see you’re making your way.” At the time I had finished cosmetology school 2 years prior and had finally found a salon where I was learning and growing and I had purchased my own car cash. I was so happy that he was able to see me make progress in my career before he passed. I know he’s proud now.

I received a lot of my in salon training at Salon BKB in Decatur with Belinda Baker. I worked there over 6 years and learned how to not only build, but maintain a regular clientele, but how to operate as a business. I remember praying for a salon home where I could learn and grow and she gave me a chance.
