We had the good fortune of connecting with Liesa Hess and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Liesa, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
Age is irrelevant. Ask me how many trips I’ve taken, sunsets I’ve seen, laughs I’ve shared, concerts I’ve been to, bedtime stories I’ve read, and people I’ve loved. Thats how old I am.

I love this because I genuinely love life and enjoy moments more than things. Simple things like watching the sun go down and staring at a beautiful sky at night. I love the now and am constantly seeking adventure and things that make me smile and laugh. The best gift anyone can give me is time. Time to enjoy the simple things and not rush life. This is just a reminder to always take in those moments and not take life so seriously all of the time. Life should be lived. We should wake up every day excited about what that day has for us instead of waking up dreading all that we have to do. I am grateful for my life and the people I have in it.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I have loved fashion for a long time and of course loved shopping. I am a people person and love being around people, meeting new people, and just learning about their lives. I homeschooled my two older children until my middle child started high school. I also put my youngest in school at this time. My children were always my focus. When I put them in school I decided it was time for me to finally pursue my dreams and be more attentive to that. So I jumped right in and did some research and contacted Apricot Lane which is a franchise. I spoke with the founder and then the president flew to Georgia and spent the day with me. We had a lot of phone conversations and then I was awarded the franchise. That was such an emotional day for me. The journey began and I was so thankful for corporate because they made everything pretty smooth. Unfortunately I was set to open in April of 2020 which happened to be during the covid lockdown. Of course this was a scary time to be opening a business but I started the process a year before and was only a month out from opening when everything shutdown. Thankfully I was able to open May 1 and thankfully the customers came. I have truly enjoyed meeting them and love when I get to have longer conversations with them. With all of that said was it easy? Not all of it but it wasn’t all hard either. When I face hard things in life I always remind myself of all that I have overcome in life and just tell myself if you can make it through that then you can easily make it through this. Its all a mindset and I have to decide each day to go in to my office with a thankful heart and good attitude. Im truly blessed that I am living out one of my dreams and that I have the freedom to work for myself. We should never not do something just because it is hard or scary. Those are the things that grow us and make us who we are. I appreciate learning opportunities. Life is one big lesson and if you pay attention you will learn a lot from it and the people around you.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I moved to the area August of 2018 so I still feel like I am kind of new. So I am sure I still don’t know all of the places. When my best friend visits me we usually go to downtown Roswell and enjoy the different restaurants there. We will usually spend one night hanging out at the Battery but honestly neither one of us are big planners so we just go out with no set place and somehow always end up having a lot of fun and meeting fun people and end up having interesting stories to tell. Coming here from Nashville I am always on the lookout for live music. There are several breweries and other restaurants we have been to that have that and thats one thing we love to do.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
On many nights my best friend Drew and I would just sit and drink wine and talk about our dreams. She is a singer songwriter and I would just encourage her to keep pursuing her passion and she would do the same for me. We really challenged each other a lot but more than anything we really believed in each other. We did this for years. She now has multiple songs she has released and I do what I love owning my own clothing boutique. Many days we still call each other and talk about our dreams and even difficulties in life and just encourage each other. We constantly remind each other of those late night conversations over wine.
