We had the good fortune of connecting with Nyaisha Pierre and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nyaisha, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I think a big part of being an entrepreneur is about taking risks. When you’re putting all of your time, energy, money and focus into your business without knowing the true outcome of it, that’s what I consider taking a risk.

Taking risks has played an enormous role in my life as the CEO for a hair business. I started selling hair in 2020 during the pandemic, I feel like that in itself was a huge risk. At the time the hair market was very low, Chinese & Indian vendors shut down their businesses because of everything that was going on. Shipping was taking longer than usual and hair wholesale prices doubled. I had a vision & I knew that this is something I’ve always wanted to do for such a long time so I couldn’t give up or be discouraged. I can honestly say that taking risks, investing all of my money into my business & believing in myself has changed my life and elevated my business.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The Paris Luxe Collection is a black owned hair company that sells 100% Raw Vietnamese & Indian hair. I initially started off selling Virgin & Raw Indian hair but later went on to only selling Raw hair. Our raw hair has never been chemically processed nor has it ever had heat applied to it. It is full, long-lasting & overall the purest and highest quality of hair on the market. I am most proud of where I am today, it took a lot of hard work, discipline, investing & faith for me to gain the courage to successfully rebrand & relaunch my entire business. I am most excited about all of my upcoming plans for The Paris Luxe collection but more specifically my How To Start a Hair Business e-book that I am currently working on & will be releasing soon!
I got to where I am today by taking a step back for a few months to rebrand, relaunch & re-evaluate my business. I wanted a completely different look & feel to my brand as well as a different target audience. I had to make a lot of sacrifices in order to be able to financially invest into my brand & make my vision come to life. After tons of research & finding a good vendor I began consistently marketing & promoting the relaunch for my business on TikTok & Instagram. My tik-toks began going viral, I started getting hundreds of followers a week & I hadn’t even launched yet! Consistency & marketing definitely helped my business get to where it is today. This journey has not been easy but I do have an amazing support system that guides me & gives me the best advice whenever I’m faced with a challenge.

One of the biggest lessons I’m learning right now is to enjoy the journey & not focus so much on the end goal because there is beauty in the journey. I’m learning not to be so hard on myself & put so much pressure on where I want to be in life and to just enjoy & be grateful for where I am right now.
I want the world to know that being a business owner is not easy, there will be obstacles you’re faced with, risks you might have to take & sacrifices you have to make but through it all you have to keep pushing forward & know that consistency will get you exactly where you want be. You have to have faith in your journey & trust that everything will work itself out as long as you put the work in.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First we would start the day off getting brunch at my favorite brunch restaurant in Brooklyn “Verde on Smith”. They have the BEST French toast & eggs you’ll ever taste. Then we would try out this newly opened spa “World Spa Brooklyn”, the vibe is very aesthetically pleasing & relaxing so I know we would get great pictures & facials. Next we would go bowling at Chelsea Piers or rollerskating because none of us are good at either one so it would be fun just to try. For dinner we would go to Ruth Chris for a good T-bone steak, Garlic mash & a lemon drop!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would first like to dedicate my shoutout to my parents. My dad has believed in me my whole entire life & has always encouraged me to go above & beyond with everything that I do. His faith in me gives me the confidence I need to get through any obstacle within my business. My mom has always been so supportive & willing to help out with my business. It feels really good to know that I have my family’s support and encouragement no matter what, I know they have my best interest at heart. Lastly I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my amazing best friend Ariel. Whenever I’m facing a situation or things aren’t necessarily going as planned for my business she’s always there to listen and motivate me into finding a solution with her wise words of advice. I’m so grateful to have such a strong support system that keeps me grounded and motivated.
