We had the good fortune of connecting with Tonice Joyce Taylor and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tonice Joyce, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
In 2012, Glamlon Beauty Bar started out as Glamlon Ministries, which consist of a prayer line for young women (Monday – Friday 7am to 8am and Sundays at 10pm), weekly bible study, mentorship, and building a personal relationship with God. Fast forward to 2017, I had been modeling for various hair companies, hair shows, and not to mention doing outstanding projects with well-known mentors. During that time, I gained knowledge and understanding on how to run a professional hair boutique which birthed Glamlon Beauty Bar.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
It has taken me some years to fully say I am proud of my brand especially when the opinion of God. He will give you the vision and the plan to achieve it, and you will have to learn the discipline to keep your eyes on Him and not others. His plan for you was not discussed on a conference call with others.

My work ethic is unmatched, I learned that from my father to always be good at whatever you put your hands to. No matter what the job consists, I was willing to go the extra mile and work the extra hours. Working in the marketing industry for 4 years has taught me the keys to proper planning and branding for my business. Sometimes God may have us in a certain career and/or job placement not knowing that He has placed us there to gain the knowledge and wisdom we may need for our future endeavors. Never in a million years would I have thought that every job I had was setting me up to run my own business. One thing I valued about the last company I worked for was that their mission was to believe in the impossible and never compromise your brands values and/or prices.

Running a professional business is not easy but it’s worth the sacrifice. There will be good and bad months but if you believe in your brand you will be able to overcome any obstacle that is in your way. I want people to know I am a risk taker and God will make you very uncomfortable in certain situations because He has a greater plan and needs you not to be afraid to “Go!” God is ready to push you into destiny. I moved from NYC to ATL in July 2020 with 2 bags, my daughter, Zuri Madison, and a dream during an entire pandemic. I remember my prayer was God I don’t want to work for anyone and ready to go full force with my business. Fast forward to May 2021, I now have 3 businesses: Glamlon Beauty Bar, Glamlon Party Rentals LLC and Glamlon Consulting LLC.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would definitely have to support some of my friend’s local businesses in the Metro – Atlanta areas. We would visit the following: Gocha Breakfast Bar, The Watson Academy, Luxury Nail Spa Decatur, Waxing Beauty Suite, Ajabu B Consulting and my church – Leaders Of Tomorrow International Ministries (Atlanta campus).
