We had the good fortune of connecting with Tim Salau, Mr. Future of Work and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tim, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Initially, when we started Guide in March 2019, me and my co-founder’s thought process was really simple…” We would love to build something that helps high school students improve their life skills.” Since then, we’ve pivoted our company and now offer more than one product across two different verticals, Software as a Service (SaaS) & Consumer Product Good (CPG). We believe we’re a lifestyle brand for the next-generation of creators and are uniquely positioned to do great things in the future.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am most proud of the fact that i’ve never sold my soul for a quick check and have always been true to my art.

I believe artists and creators can thrive in business or any industry for that matter.

What makes me unique is that I am a multi-disciplinary artist. I am a song-writer, musician, technologist, business leader, etc; but most fundamentally, I am a creative. I love to create. I believe in the creative spirit and the creator economy. I believe art is meant to be shared, to empower others, and shine a light on what’s going on in the world.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned in my journey as a founder is that you should keep real people close to you, people that you trust, people that will tell you the truth and not lie to you. Lastly, you should also stay true to who you are, always.

I want the world to know that us, at Guide, we’re company for creators and we truly believe in the creative spirit. We live by our mission of equipping every creator with the skills, mindset, and opportunities for a fulfilling career. We’re a once-in-a generation lifestyle brand that owns a software brand and a tea brand. We cherish what makes us unique as an organization and our opportunity to serve creators every single day, where they are independent freelancers or business professionals in corporate America.

We exist to serve creators.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to the park.

We would eat at Chick-Fil-A.

I would have them visit a creative studio with me.

I believe that people should spend more time outside, playing, laughing, listening to their surroundings. The world is always telling us something. We just need to open our eyes and listen with our head up, not down.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Simply put, I believe my mom, dad, and Team Guide deserve credit for my success.
