We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiffany Morrison and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tiffany, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
Being a hairstylist is definitely not for the weak. I’ve been a travel hairstylist for roughly 4 years now and I’ve seen, learned and experienced so much while on my journey. For one If you don’t stand up for your brand or yourself, some people will run you to the ground. I was always the person to stand back, shy away and let everyone take the spotlight but ever since I started doing hair and made a choice to be a travel stylist, is has inspired me, push me to open up to strangers, have conversations with them, build a trustworthy bond with some or few of my clients and also help me on how to articulate myself around people whether older, my age or younger than me. I’ve met some great clients whom would to go above and beyond for me while I’m at there house. I have clients whom I’d do just about anything for because they always ensure I’m safe, well fed and comfortable while I’m at their residence. I’m a part time hairstylist and also a full time CNA so both my job includes me interacting with folks. Some days are hard, while some day’s I love the fact that I can make others smile and feel good about themself. I love that I’m apart of the the very few that can heal hearts and provide comfort to people. My both jobs has taught me that life can be challenging sometimes but never give up, never give in. God will always see you through and he’ll stand by to ensure all good things comes to you and you execute those good deeds to your clients.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My philosophy is “God is within her, she will not fail”. First let me say to where I’m at and from where I’ve started, it’s all Gods works. When I found my passion for braiding hair I was doing my friends hair everytime she wants to get it done. I would be so hyper about it but still I didn’t consider it to be something I’d do because let’s be honest I always tell myself being an hairstylist doesn’t really counts. When I migrated and came to live in the states, I realized that being in the hair industry field is a big deal. I’ll never forget the first time I did soft locs on myself and posted pictures on Facebook marketplace so I could get clients which I did. I remembered often times before going to each client’s house, I would sit and watch multiple videos on how to perfect that one particular hairstyle that they wanted because hey I wasn’t a professional but I also know what looks appropriate from what doesn’t. I started off doing so much locs, then I got booked for braids and then after doing so much I realized that I’m getting better. When I started I wasn’t charging much because honesty is the best policy and if I’m not a professional why would I charge them so much when I’m at a basic skills level. Over the years I’ve mastered my craft just by watching TikTok videos, YouTube videos and Instagram videos. When I found my love for hair, I bought a mannequin head from Amazon and the only style I tried on that mannequin was Knotless braids (funny enough even know those braids are still in the mannequin head lol). Each time I do someone’s hair and realized I’ve aced my abilities, I’d post it on Facebook marketplace and that’s how I attracted more clients. I went from traveling close distances from my home to traveling 2-3 hours away from home. I never turned down a client and whatever wrongs comes my way I always ensure to fix it. One of my biggest challenges is my ankle. After standing sometimes 6-13 hours on my feet, I realized that it started to get swollen and I could hardly walk. Did I give up? No. I pushed through days of hurting and crying but still ensure my clients are well pleased. My next goal right now is to get my own salon space so I can do more for each of my clients whether new or old. Doing hair has made me into the loving and hardworking individual I am today and I want the world to know that everyone brings love but not all love is genuine and I for one believes in pure, genuine love. Here in Atlanta the hair industry is a wide range but I find myself to be one of a kind and special. I still have more to learn, further to go and more challenges to face but I’m walking with God on this journey and I know he’ll see me through. Every client’s I’ve come across was placed in my life from God and I know they’re blessed also. I’m elated to be apart of the many stylist that puts a smile on each and everyone faces.
