We had the good fortune of connecting with Tia & Stephanie and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tia & Stephanie, what do you attribute your success to?
Curating mental and physical wellness with the use of cannabis from people who look like us is the driving factor behind the success of The Pretty Dragons. Ensuring that people of color have a place that offers safe and reliable information on a topic that is still be considered slightly unaccepted in some areas is extremely important to us and we take great pride in breaking that “lazy stoner” stigma. The Pretty Dragons offer various levels of supports from one-on-one consultations for beginners looking for specific help or high-level support with tools like our Cannabis Chronicles Weed Journal (available on amazon.com or theprettydragons.com) for the more experienced consumer looking to track strains. The Pretty Dragons Podcast is our favorite way to get our message out!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The Pretty Dragons Podcast host Tia and Steph gather each week to offer our hilarious take on life broken down into several segments: there’s a mind, body and soul wellness segment, a music segment and a different topic for the main “session” that varies from week to week (that can be anything from changes in cannabis laws, a music playlist or new movie recaps). We offer an in depth look into safe cannabis consumption, covering a wide variety of cannabis related topics such as our strain of the week, how it directly affects our body as well as differences in consumption methods. As cannabis connoisseurs it’s important to highlight some positive properties that cannabis has and how it aids in our day-to-day productivity…We make it a gathering spot to get together and laugh about the ups and downs of life and detail how cannabis helps us manage those roller coaster moments. The fact the cannabis is still not federally legal offers a huge challenge for us, in many ways people still shy away from open and honest conversation which can cause some reluctancy from potential marketing partners, it even stops family and friends from sharing our content regularly. We’re overcoming this hurdle by creating events such as the Virtual Smoke Session we hosted which was safe way to gather virtually and safely partake during the height of the pandemic. Offering tools like the cannabis chronicles weed journal to track your strains and make other notes related to your consumption is another way we destigmatize cannabis use. It’s important to us to have the voice of African American cannabis connoisseurs be loud and clear and The Pretty Dragons have some things to add to the story! You can hear us every week everywhere podcasts are available- apple podcast, Spotify, breaker, anchor to name a few, as well as The PrettyDragons.com.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Any weeklong trip with The Pretty Dragons is going to start with a trip to the dispensary! After we make sure everyone has their strain of choice, we’d make our way to get all the ingredients for the best taco Tuesday event including a round of Lyrically Correct or Culture Tags (Tia feels the best way to show someone you care about them is to feed them). Depending on the season the agenda would consist of either a Steelers or Pirates game and if neither of those are available you can never go wrong at Top Golf or Shorty’s Pins and Pints.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
