We had the good fortune of connecting with Terrell “Mr. CSA2k” Varnes and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Terrell “Mr. CSA2k”, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I didn’t want to continue to work up under people that didn’t appreciate my decision making skills or work ethic. I wanted to be more of an influence than fight against the conflict of being improperly influenced. I feel that if God gave us work and man give us jobs, so I’d rather continue to do what man has no control over.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a songwriter, music recorder, radio disc jokey, and promo graphic designer. I enjoy doing all 4 things and what sets me apart from others is the I believe maintaining that professional look that keeps people engaged in everything you put out. Everything that I do came with no budget and long nights. I had to become everything that I needed in order to show others how I wanted things done as well as to get myself going in my career path. Having purpose helped me overcome many days of wanting to throw in the towel. By not allowing myself to become bigger than that purpose, kept me looking more at the finish line instead of noticing all the bumps in the road. I just want people to see and understand that with God, you can make a palace out of poverty and pain. There is no such thing as I can’t and with vision as well as purpose you can create your better tomorrows.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well, if I was to have a friend come in town then we would probably catch a sports game. We would hang out around Downtown Atlanta (Midtown or Buckhead), because they have great eating areas to choose from. I would take him to the studio later that night and to create some new musical ideas. We would probably go to a couple of industry events as well.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
God, Richard Nesbitt, my wife Kratryna Varnes, Gregory “Dub G” Spencer and DJ Big X
Josiah Tibbs and Misvision Graphics
