We had the good fortune of connecting with Teia Acker-Moore and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Teia, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Teia Acker #RESILIENT is designed to help women feel liberated, celebrated, impactful while eliminating the barriers and setbacks life brings. The mission and purpose of this business to highlight, reward, applause, and celebrate the success of women from all facets of life while displaying the methods of being truly RESILIENT and facing life head-on.

What should our readers know about your business?
Teia Acker is a resilient business-woman, author and media personality who relentlessly balances various aspects of entrepreneurship, motherhood and godly living. She serves a motivational speaker on various platforms to include her podcast #GETNOTICED! What sets me apart is the fact that I would rather celebrate other women than myself. I enjoy lifting the self-esteem and the “glow” of women. Business-wise I arrived at this point by being an entrepreneur. As a owner of two business and co-owner of three businesses, I always wanted to help others “WIN”. I am an avid supporter of small businesses and the tools that I have used to succeed, I willingly share. Of course it wasn’t easy. I had women who I helped and support mistreat me. That hurt more than anything because I supported them….I support everyone really. But I must say, it made me stronger and established the genuineness I possessed. The lessons that I have learned consists of knowing that I can’t help everyone, I can’t save everyone, I don’t know the answer to everything, everyone won’t like me, everyone is not my friend and that Love is shown more so than its said. I want the world to know that I am committed to helping women discover themselves. I am committed to being resilient, living in resilience and being true to myself and those who view me as a real model and role model.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Wow! Well for me…. I’m very simple. I would love to have a couple of laughs and a great meal at Mary Mac’s Tea Room. Of course I would hope it during basketball season. While I love the city, I am a huge Boston Celtics Fan and would make that apart of the trip. In addition, getting a mile or two in at piedmont park or attending a show at the Fox Theatre immediately come to mind. Im a Crown Plaza lady so of course I would make to it to check in just in time for the complimentary drinks or if I am not there, its most definitely the Embassy Suites in Hapeville. The breakfast is amazing. If with my gal-pals, shopping is a must at Atlantic Station. If I am with my husband, more than likely we will be playing golf at East Lake Golf Club or cruise the boat on Lake Lanier (He’s such a romantic). I am not the most traditional woman or business owner so of course the trip would include business meetings and deals while toasting with a class of kettle one and a cigar at Cam Newton’s Fellowship. I would end the trip with a peaceful experience on Stone Mountain. There is so much to the city…. it very hard to limit visits.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate this to my “DOTS”. These women are my core. They are the reason I continue to put women in the forefront. I have seen them survive so many of life obstacles. They have seen me weather many storms and I have always shared God’s grace, God’s Love and His RESILIENCY that dwelled within me. Thank you ladies for pushing me to be my absolute best. To Lakiesha Lewis, LCSW – thank you for speaking the word “RESILIENT” into my life July 25, 2015. It has resonated a fire in me that is finally burning.
