We had the good fortune of connecting with Tanya Blount and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tanya, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I’m all about taking risk, I think that is one of the things that stands out the most about me is that I am not afraid to gamble on myself. I started massage therapy 12 years ago. I was working in one of the hottest nightclubs in Atlanta at the time. The money was really good, but I knew that it was short term. I started promoting my business within the club and securing clientele. With the money I made in the club I was able to secure my first massage studio. The business was good but I realized I was leaving money on the table when my clients started asking for services I didn’t offer. I was about 9 years in when I went back to school for esthetics. The club life started slowing down and I ultimately let go of my location. I started doing mobile services for my regulars and became a licensed esthetician.
I ended up leaving the club life all together and started feeling it financially. I knew I had to do something fast. Soon thereafter Covid hit and I began rebranding. That was the beginning of Touched, LLC. A full service mobile spa. My business took off due to the lockdown. People loved the idea of being able to get the services they loved in the comfort of their own homes. While business was booming, the travel, the heavy lifting of my supplies, and the demand became a bit too much being that I am a one woman show. So I began rebranding once again, and here I am. So I say this, risk are necessary to see what works for you.
What should our readers know about your business?
I recently settled Touched, LLC into a nice cozy spot in East Point Georgia. It is in a cut urban area where there are a lot of restaurants, parks, boutiques, and walking distance to the East Point Marta Station. At Touched, LLC I offer a full range of services from massages, v-steams, facials pre/post op lymphatic drainage treatments and my own bath and body product line homemade by me. I provide one on one services and give my customers the option to personalize their treatment. Come see me at 2792 East Point Street, Suite 110, East Point, GA 30344.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I worked in the club scene for so long, I really don’t party much anymore. I’m always down for some good food, a day party here and there and some music I can dance to. My favorite places to ear are “Sauce” (an Italian Restaurant in Buckhead). The salmon pizza is a must have have. And “The Goodz” located in midtown. Both are black owned and the service is great. Lava Lounge on Sunday’s for their day party and my absolute favorite party is “Ladies Love R&B” on Wednesday’s at Republic Lounge. It’s a whole vibe. The DJ’s take you through a mix of R&B from the early 90’s to now. It definitely a dance all night party.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’ve had a lot of support over the years, but my biggest supporters are my sister friends Chrissy and Jai. They have always been behind the scenes with anything I needed help with. They are honest, knowledgeable and consistent. They definitely deserve this shoutout.
