Hi Diamonds and Pearls Planning LLC, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
We have doing party planning and coordinating events as a hobby for years, and finally decided to step out on faith and turn our hobby into a business ran by 4 African American women.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Diamonds and Pearls Planning LLC is black women owned event planning company whose purpose is to give each customer a specialized and unique experience. Our clients can count on us to be professional and create top of the line ideas, and guarantee 100% satisfaction. Our services range from consultations for full event planning to execution of decoration design.

We service the Washington, DC, Maryland, Virginia areas. We were founded in July 2018. The team consists of our wonderful creative directors, Shawnice and Denise Quigley, who bring the vision of our clients to life. Our finance director, Kathy Jones, who manages our finances in addition to working with clients on wedding coordination and set-up. Lastly, Angie Majette who works to market our business to ensure visibility on social media and in the community.

Starting a business of course is not easy for anyone, however we stepped out on faith and trusted that God did not just plant this idea for no reason at all, he had given us instructions and equipped us with all of the tools needed to successfully run a business.

One of the challenges we had to overcome was to facing a global pandemic, something no one could ever be prepared for. However it pushed us to think of ways to think outside of the box and expand our brand. We were able to still provide yard decorations for drive by Graduations, Birthdays and Baby Showers.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If our best friends were coming in to town for the weekend we would start the weekend off at the roof top bar located at MGM at the National Harbor in Oxon,Hill Maryland. At the newly built National Harbor you can always count on finding something new and fun to do whether it is a Wine Down Friday, Taco Festival on Saturday followed by a Movie on the Lawn on Sunday with the family.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We would like to shout out our family and friends who have always supported us during the start up of our business and continue to show us LOVE and Support. We would also like to shout out our church Jerusalem AME Church in Clinton, MD as this is the place where we met and Diamonds and Pearls Planning, LLC was birthed.
