We had the good fortune of connecting with Tanisha Naughton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tanisha, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
My mother was diagnosed with diabetes and after I helped reverse it by eating plant base and making herbal teas it gave me the idea to start making herbal teas that can help cleanse the body and coach clients on how eating cleaner can help prevent disease.

What should our readers know about your business?
What sets me apart from others is my business started due to my mother. I have always been health-conscious and heavily involved with living a healthy lifestyle and working out. My mother was diagnosed with being diabetic around the fall of 2016 and it changed my outlook on life because I saw how much my mother was suffering. She experienced symptoms such as dizziness & temporary loss of vision. She was on a few medications prescribed via her doctor. I decided to halt my mother from all medications after doing research on holistic healers that found a solution to cure diabetes naturally, as I felt the medications were not helping her. I wanted to help my mother so she can live a healthier and longer lifestyle. I changed her to diet to more of a vegan/pescatarian lifestyle and began making her burdock root tea daily. A little over a year later, her doctor told her she was pre-diabetic after me changing her diet to mainly fruits & vegetables & incorporating burdock root tea.

Once I realized the tea/plant-based diet helped my mother, I decided that I wanted to help others as well. We can heal our bodies with herbs and a plant-based diet holistically.

I am most excited about the launch of my plant base 1:1 3 month coaching program for women of color that want to transition to become plant base which begins in September 2022,

My business is still building, but it has grown a lot in the past 3 years. I got here by a lot of hard work and perseverance, there were times when I didn’t think I could do my business full-time.

It has not been easy! Educating people about why eating healthier is not always easy. I am an advocate on the way we eat will affect how we think, act and live our daily lives. However, not everyone has that same vision. I had a hard time being able to get clients to stay consistent with wanting to stay on the wellness path. I also had to learn to meet clients where they are at and help guide them from that point. I overcome the challenges by just staying consistent and focusing a lot on grounding my mind understanding that the ultimate goal is to build a business where I get to help people live a healthier lifestyle which is what fuels me daily. I am still working everyday to make myself and Ms. Wellness. LLC an amazing company for clients and to make it a business that I will be proud of myself for.

Some of the lessons I have learned along the way are that having a mentor/business coach is pretty important to help guide you along the journey. I tend to do things by myself and I did that for the first 2 years in business when I was working a full time time but this year when I decided to be full time entrepreneur I realized I needed support. That support helps me stay grounded.

I would like the world to know that I am a very down to earth person that is here to make others feel comfortable and become the best versions of themselves. I love helping people achieve their wellness goals, it lights up my day. My brand was created to help align client’s mind, body and soul. I care about the individual not only the outcome they have. When someone speaks with me it’s like speaking to their favorite cousin, the conversation is genuine, fun and loving.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am from New York but have been learning more about Georgia so I would have to say Bar Vegan is a vibe I like to bring people to when they visit. Indian State Springs Park is great for views and their natural spring water. We would visit Culture Experience for some nostalgia and heritage vibes. Go walk around little 5 points for sight seeing and shopping. Ponce city market is a must for shopping and restaurants along with the skyline park. New black wall street is such a great place to check out. Cafe sunflower buckhead for brunch. Cinnaholic has some of the best vegan doughnuts and cookies!
I love food so I would take them to Tassali’s Raw Reality Cafe, Healthful Essence, en vegan and Life Bistro as well.
For partying, we would go to the RUm Prunch Brunch, Suite Food Lounge and Ember Lounge.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mother, she is my biggest cheerleader. She may not understand how my business is ran but she always encourages me to pursue my dreams.
