We had the good fortune of connecting with Takisha “kemi” Miller and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Takisha “Kemi”, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Starting my own business stemmed from a desire to create something that aligned with my purpose and passion for helping women grow. For years, I found myself in spaces where I was either not being heard, undervalued, or limited in how I could support others. I realized that I wanted to provide women, especially African American women, with a space where they could experience true transformation—spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and physically.

My thought process involved a lot of reflection and prayer, asking myself what I wished had been available to me during my most challenging times. I wanted to create an environment where women could feel supported, non-judged, and loved while also being pushed to elevate in every area of their lives. It was about building a community that embraced self-care, personal development, and healing, all rooted in faith. So, I took the leap, trusting that God would guide me in this journey and knowing that my experience as a life coach and my passion for transformation would make an impact.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My work focuses on helping women, especially African American women, transform their lives through self-care, personal development, and spiritual growth. What sets me apart is my holistic approach—addressing not just physical or emotional health but also the spiritual and mental aspects that are often overlooked. I believe that true healing and growth happen when all areas of a woman’s life are nurtured and aligned with her purpose.

I’m incredibly proud of the community I’ve built and the impact it’s had on women who are ready to elevate their lives. Seeing women break cycles of self-doubt, overcome toxic patterns, and step into their God-given potential fuels my passion. One of the things I’m most excited about is the continual growth of ElevateHer and expanding the resources available to women who need a space to heal and flourish.

Getting to where I am today wasn’t easy. There were moments of self-doubt, financial challenges, and times when I questioned if this path was for me. But each challenge pushed me to grow, and my faith became my foundation. I learned that overcoming challenges required trusting God’s plan, staying consistent, and surrounding myself with people who uplifted me.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that it’s okay to not have everything figured out. You don’t have to be perfect to start—just take the next step in faith. I’ve also learned the importance of prioritizing self-care and being kind to myself, which I encourage my clients to do as well.

What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that we’re here to create a safe space for women to heal, grow, and become who they’re meant to be. My story is one of overcoming, and I believe that every woman has the power to do the same when she’s equipped with the right tools, mindset, and community. Through ElevateHer, we provide those tools, and I’m committed to helping women live out their purpose, honor God, and elevate every part of their lives.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting, I’d make sure she experienced the perfect blend of relaxation, good vibes, and culture. Here’s a little itinerary for an unforgettable week:

Spa Day & Night Out Mid-week calls for some pampering. We’d spend the day at Jeju Sauna for the full Korean spa experience—detox, relax, and recharge. After a long spa day, we’d glam up and have a fun night out in Midtown. Followed by dancing at Suite Food Lounge. The next day for lunch, we’d stop by Slutty Vegan—the burgers are out of this world, and we can’t miss it! In the evening, we’d swing by The Beltline for a stroll, maybe rent bikes. Can’t forget CHURCHHHHH! It’s a must have. And before she left a Welcome to the City send-off with brunch at Le Petit Marché—a cozy spot known for its Southern-inspired French toast and shrimp & grits. We’d venture off to Piedmont Park for a relaxed stroll, maybe rent bikes, and soak in the beautiful skyline views. That evening, I’d take her to Krog Street Market, a vibrant food hall, where we could sample different bites and drinks from local vendors. We’d finish the night at Ponce City Rooftop—there’s mini golf, boardwalk games, and killer views of the city.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
This shoutout is for every woman who has ever felt stuck, who’s struggled to find her voice, or questioned her worth. To every woman who has poured into others, yet felt empty inside. You deserve credit for the resilience, strength, and perseverance that often goes unnoticed.

I also want to shout out the ElevateHer community, my support system of like-minded women who have encouraged and uplifted me along the way. These women, along with my family and mentors, have been crucial in reminding me that I can’t pour from an empty cup—and that it’s okay to take time for my own healing and growth.

Finally, to the countless women who’ve trusted me with their stories and journeys—you are the inspiration behind my work. Your courage to show up, be vulnerable, and pursue transformation fuels me to keep going. Let’s continue to elevate one another!
