We had the good fortune of connecting with Tabitha Rice and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tabitha, why did you pursue a creative career?
As a biracial woman I was always confused growing up. I couldn’t relate to anyone. I was bullied nonstop. I had ADD, Anxiety, Depression bad growing up and I feel they become worse as an adult. I couldn’t find anything to focus on. I had coloring books, reading books, meditation and even turned to physicians for help on how to handle my mental because I couldn’t get a hold of it I felt. It wasn’t until I completed lash training that everything made sense. I finally found a craft that I truly enjoy doing and I can focus on. My mind is at peace when I’m lashing my clients. Everything goes out the window. It’s me and them. We vibe. My clients can lay on that table for two hours and they control the session. We can talk, laugh, cry, get that older sister advice, and just bond. Lashing has improved my outlook on life, honestly, I don’t have to take everything so personal or feel I have to save the world all at once. I make a difference everyday with my clients and seeing them smile.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Nothing in life is easy! I have four degrees in the medical field and after working for ten years I was burned out, unappreciated, over worked, I was another employee number not valued as a human being. This lack of support within my field was feeding my depression. Once I followed my heart and invested more and more into my lash artist career I was feeling my soul. The calmness, peace, the happiness I feel from lashing is unreal. Like every artist we hone in on our craft and want to be the best. Never settle. As a mom to three children biological and a bonus son I am truly happy. Don’t let anyone or anything get in the way of your happiness. Listen to your heart and follow YOUR dreams- No one else’s!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m Albany this is a small historical town. Ray Charles if from here we can visit his memorial. There are rich history tours here, local mom and pop places to eat. There are small shops to shop at. We can go Axe throwing, roller skating, painting, or just a walk downtown Albany or visit Turtle park. This city has a lot to offer.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
