Meet Shuron Dixon | Fashion designer, photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Shuron Dixon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shuron, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve been into fashion since a kid and I’ve always wanted my own business so once I learned how to create my own logos and the process of making clothes I took off from there .

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I feel like what sets my brand apart from
Most is the authenticity and relatability of the brand , the name of my brand is Struggle Made Us Grind S.M.U.G the meaning is real and relatable . In life I’ve over come many obstacles and struggles but rather then let them defeat me it motivated to grind my way through them .
I’m mostly proud about the things I’ve done with my brand from inspiring others around me to chase their dream , being in different magazines, hosting my own events but most importantly using the platform I created to mentor as well as doing charity events .
I got to where I am now by grinding , resilience and honestly networking moving to Atlanta was probably the best thing to ever happen to me it taught me networking can really change your life .
Honestly getting to where I am today was extremely hard and took time and I have so much further to go , but the name of my brand alone says it all “ struggle made us grind “ I’ve come too far now to give up or slow down .
One of the biggest lesson I’ve learned is consistency is key and never down play the power of networking .
I want to world to know my brand isn’t just a clothing or a brand it’s a life style , struggle made us grind relates to all struggles it’s for anybody that’s been through any obstacle in life and rather then letting those things get in the way they got on they grind and got through it .

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d definitely take them to little five points to hit a few stores , Krog street to take pictures and Ponce city market to catch some vibes
I’m into art so I would take them to the high art museum
It’s so much to do in Atlanta from going to the battery , to places like Andretti , third spot or sling shot .
Night time definitely hit up opium , eleven45
After that King of diamond’s or allure depending on the vibes

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shout out to all my supporters and anyone who has ever purchased anything from me . Being an entrepreneur is hard but fulfilling although I’m very self motivated at times I get stuck and don’t really know what direction I wanna go or the everyday struggles in life become obstacles , but the people who support me and the return clientele keep me going when people ask to purchase merch or what’s dropping next it lets me know I can’t stop going or grinding I don’t want to let them down and if it wasn’t for them I wouldn’t be as far as I am now so I want to sincerely thank you all .
