We had the good fortune of connecting with Shuntell/Gaynelle and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shuntell/Gaynelle, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
Once we made that leap of faith to leave our 9 to 5 jobs. We know that giving up is something that we would not do. Even though you are faced with everyday business issues, like the sale are slow and your are not making the money like you were before. You say to yourself did I make the right choice, But then out of nowhere business picks back up and you just keep going. Because we have a bigger vision we have to keep going regardless of the challenges we face. With God we choose to keep going and never give up.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
2 Sistas Cookin is a family owned catering company that was established in 2016, by the sisters Gaynelle and Shuntell serving up all of their family recipes to all of Atlanta. We started doing corporate pop ups in 2017 across Atlanta which got the people to know the brand of 2 Sistas Cookin. Branding became very important to us during this time being that other pop up companies had started to use business names similar to ours. So 2 Sistas Cookin had to really stand out. This was not an easy process but we pushed through all challenges good, bad or indifferent. After we had built up our brand and established a customer base through our pop ups, we all were hit hard due to COVID-19 so 2 Sistas Cookin had to pivot our business, so we started online sales of our FAMOUS EMPANADAS which we would ship or delivery to our customers. So now 2 Sistas Cookin is in the process of opening a brick and mortar at 5400 Covington Hwy, Decatur, GA 30035. Follow us on all social media platforms to get details of our grand opening.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Most of our family and friends love for us to cook for them. But some of our favorite places to eat would be Pappadeaux , Negril Village or go bowling Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Our first shoutout goes to GOD!!! Without him non of this would be possible. And we can’t forget to shoutout all of 2 Sistas Cookin customers (if you are a regular or you ate with us once) you make us who we are today. Our church NCCM for the small group Dream Builders that give us business tools and resources. Like reading the book “Doing Business By the Good Book” By David Steward & Robert L. Shook. We have to shoutout all of our mentors that keep us motivated during the ups and downs of this business. Last but not least we cant forget our children: Ebony, Makiah, Elijah and Keon. They are the ones that keep us going.
