We had the good fortune of connecting with Shikha Arya and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shikha, why did you pursue a creative career?
I chose a creative career because I loved sketching and painting as a child. Growing up, I also developed a fetish for makeup. It made me feel more confident. I worked an IT job for few years and decided to start over and give my creativity skills a chance. I went to school to learn makeup and now I have 6 certificates. All I had to do is pick a brush and let the creative juices flow. My art makes my clients feel beautiful and confident, and that is very fulfilling for me. For me, this is success. I make people happy.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I work with all my heart and passion and love to transform my clients’ imagination into reality. It took years of hardwork to improve my skills. I started my own brand during the pandemic. A lot of places ceased beauty services at this time but I was able to make someone’s day brighter when they couldn’t find an artist during tough times. Slowly, the word spread and I started getting more appointments for makeovers. Believe it or not, covid is a blessing in disguise. My business took off and I am looking forward to more opportunities.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love to go to Avalon for a hang out. Its pretty cool. I love the vibe there. For shopping, I love Premium Outlets. You get a lot of options to choose from. Ponce City Market and Buckhead Shops are some more favorite hang out spots. I love Indian food and there are some really nice Indian restaurants in Alpharetta. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to recognize my friends for always encouraging me to take this path. They pushed me to take a risk. They believed in me, that beauty is my forte. Now, I touch peoples lives with my brushes.
