Meet Shetundra Pinkston | Community Engagement Specialist – Atlanta, The Knowledge House

We had the good fortune of connecting with Shetundra Pinkston and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shetundra, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind the success of placing people in tech positions lies in The Knowledge House’s holistic approach to continuous support beyond just technical skills such as career coaching, professional development workshops, and alumni networks. By addressing the needs of our fellows holistically and fostering a supportive ecosystem, we continue to maximize opportunities for success. This is shown by the increasing numbers in enrollment each year.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a passionate and skilled Community Programs & Engagement Specialist at The Knowledge House, a nonprofit organization that provides tech education and career opportunities to low-income and underrepresented youth and young adults. I have a Master of Education degree in Higher Education Administration, and I specialize in working with recruitment, youth development, and community outreach. I would hope to be remembered as someone who was deeply committed to empowering individuals to unlock their full potential. I want others to remember my legacy in outreach and student guidance as something built on a foundation of passion, innovation, collaboration, and results. Beyond achieving specific goals, I hope to leave a lasting impression that motivates others to continue the important work of guiding students toward success.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
A few of my favorite hang-out (dine and drink )spots in Atlanta are:
Places to dine and drink
Twisted Soul House
https://www.twistedsoulatl.com
Parlor
https://parlorden.com
Places to meet and discuss business and programming
Spaces – Atlanta (aka my office space for The Knowledge House – Atlanta)
Atlanta Tech Village

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to shoutout the entire Knowledge House team starting with the Co-Founders Jerelyn Rodriguez and Joe Carrano for bringing this mission and vision to life and growing the organization nationwide. I also want to do a special shoutout to my other Community Engagement Specialists: Monique Wise in Newark, NJ; Cesar Cruz in Los Angeles, CA and Mandy Seiner in NYC! Plus everyone else that makes The Knowledge House run from Development to Communications teams.
