We had the good fortune of connecting with SHELDON SHAW and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi SHELDON, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I fell in love with film and television when I was around 7. I was heavily influenced by Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Martin, and Family Matters. After graduating from College, I found it difficult to find a job which lead me to the creation of the business.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I began creating short videos in high school and took the media arts class where I enhanced my skills in video editing. I’ve always wanted to create a film of my own but didn’t know where to start. I wasn’t exposed to a lot of resources in my early 20’s. A childhood friend and my cousin had a similar interest in film and we decided to shoot a music video. We navigated our way on social media and were able to meet an executive producer from a nationally syndicated show; Terry Cyrus. That happened in 2012 and since then we have directed and produced a documentary, “This Is For Toronto; which was distributed with AMC Networks and streamed on UMC which has rebranded to ALLBLK now. Directed and produced a reality show called Naija Wives of Toronto which is streamed on AfrolandTV. Also, created content for various non profit organizations, corporations and small businesses. I have learned that I am in a relationship business and your network is your net worth. I overcame challenges by being motivated by other people’s success, whether I know them or not. Social media has allowed my business to grow and connect with like minded individuals and has taught me to always stay consistent. It’s definitely not easy to follow your dreams but if you are not driven without a paycheck then you’re not ready.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in Toronto where we only have a few summer months. So I hope this friend comes then but if so I would take them to the famous The Real Jerk for some food, then to this bar called Regulars, where we will have Hennessy on the rocks then to a Toronto Raptors game. Most exciting things to check out would be the diverse food spots and the live entertainment i.e. concerts, festivals and boat cruises.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Would love to give a shoutout to my parents, my number one supporters. Also, clients and fans of our work that have showed love for many years. If I had a mention a book from my journey it would be “The Power of Sub-Conscious Mind”.
