We had the good fortune of connecting with Sharlene Hooks and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sharlene, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Starting a business with just a thought process is never easy. I knew that when starting any business you must have a plan for your business so it can be successful. When I started my business in 2019, my thoughts became reality. So then I began to write it out. Of course I had to revamp some ideas because of the advantages and the resources that’s available now. My thought process was to get something done that I love. I had to understand that I didn’t need any credentials to live my dreams. Only thing I ever needed was the faith.

What should our readers know about your business?
We’re a nonprofit organization located at 118 Stockbridge Rd. Downtown Jonesboro Ga. We provide resources & also give local services such as Notary to public & CPR Training Courses. Divine Women Of Works Inc is a faith-based organization that always provide great customer service. We’re here to guide our people back to the resources that’s needed. Our organization mostly stands out for our work in the local communities. We provide help to families with resources and community givebacks. Throughout this pandemic, we have faced many challenges that any business many have seen. Building a nonprofit has it’s down moments because it’s more of community service behind closed doors. Divine Women Of Works Inc strives for greatness and to meet a single goal; to do our part in building a healthy community for families & individuals.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m always up for a good time. My friends & I share the same interests so our first stop would be The City Winery. Great scenery and also the food is delicious. If we’re heading out for a night on the town we will head to STK. Beautiful scenery & great drinks.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My supporters. I know that without my supporters I wouldn’t be here. From my very first event with my nonprofit organization my support from my family and friends has been remarkable. They’re the reason I keep going for change.
