We had the good fortune of connecting with Shardae Shivalier and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shardae, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
To me success isn’t defined by money. Of course it plays a role, and we all love to see money flowing into our bank accounts, but its not the total package. When it comes to success or being successful, I feel that it is a sense of being accomplished. As it relates to being a business owner, I feel that I created something from the ground up that is going to be great. Throughout this first year of business there has been many challenges and obstacles that were placed in my way, but I refuse to give up. As I continued to push through, I would often times receive phone calls or text out of the blue of people telling me that I was doing a great job, they were so proud of what I was doing, and just simply reminding me not to give up. That was definitely confirmation that I was doing something right. When I decided to create Bomb Girl Fashion Boutique it was not only a clothing brand, but a name that stood for something. I created this brand to inspire, empower, and encourage women daily all through the eyes of fashion, and it has been making a great impact. When your brand is able to live up to the expectations that were set, it builds trust. Trust is something that is a big part of the success of any business and will continue to gain of each customer that crosses my path. That’s what’s going to assist on this journey toward success.
What should our readers know about your business?
Bomb Girl Fashion Boutique is an online women’s boutique. We provide an array of styles at affordable prices. We are not just a clothing boutique. We are a brand that has been built to inspire, encourage, and empower. When you wear our clothing our goal is to have you feeling great and slaying in confidence. I’m most proud of the growth that my business has achieved in a years time frame, and to see where its headed. Starting a business in the middle of a pandemic was definitely not easy. From the outside looking in everyone makes it seem like a cakewalk, but its the complete opposite. There’s a lot of dedication, long nights, time, and research that goes into starting your business. You have to be willing to stick it out through both the good and the bad because in the end its so worth it! One lesson that I’ve learned is that consistency is key! When you are consistent it has a positive effect on every aspect of you business. Secondly, don’t compare your success to the success of others, always remember being yourself is what sets you apart.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When my friends come in town they are always wanting to try different places to eat since we’re all foodies! Brunch- we would be going to Another Broken Egg Cafe, Lunch-Pappadeaux, Dinner, drinks & fun- Skyline Park at Ponce City Market. Can’t miss out of some of the main attractions like the Georgia Aquarium and the world of Coca-cola. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The first person that I would have to give credit to would be my fiancé’. When I decided that I was going to open a clothing boutique, he was all for it with no questions asked. He has been one of my biggest cheerleaders and helpers when it comes to opening and running my business. Rather its encouraging words, being my personal photographer, or making sure that I had everything I needed to be successful, I could always depend on him. Next, I would like to thank my aunt Melissa who I also look up to as a mentor. She’s always there to provide direction, encouragement, and push you to your highest potential. She has always loved to see her nieces and nephews doing great things, and when you are she does her best to make sure everyone knows it! She goes above and beyond to make sure everyone knows about Bomb Girl Fashion Boutique! I would also like to shoutout my mom. She has definitely has my back 100%. She makes it her business to not only let everyone know about my business, but shares my social media post every single day its posted. She has went above and beyond to complete numerous tasks that I needed assistance with to make sure I was a success. I would also like to thank all of my family, friends, and loyal customers that continue to support me on this journey.
