We had the good fortune of connecting with Sasha Fierro and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sasha, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I made the decision to launch my own business because I desired the freedom to explore my own concept and develop a venture that aligned with my core beliefs. Additionally, I wanted to demonstrate to my daughter that despite the obstacles I faced with cancer, my determination and dreams remained unscathed. The prospect of starting from scratch and building something new also intrigued me. Ultimately, my goal was to seize control of my fate and leave a positive mark on the world.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I view life through a creative lens, finding inspiration in everything I see and connecting with people from diverse backgrounds. My journey to where I am today in my professional life has been shaped by the struggles of being an immigrant and the daughter of immigrants who sacrificed everything for a better future. I have vowed to never settle for a mediocre life and to show my parents that their sacrifices were worthwhile, even if they may not fully understand my career in the arts.
Growing up in an underprivileged neighborhood, I am determined to be a role model for youth facing similar circumstances, showing them that success is possible and that barriers can be overcome. I have learned to adapt and be flexible, understanding the importance of navigating different social environments to succeed in the world.
In my business, which encompasses event and floral design and the retail sector, my ultimate goal is to partner with underprivileged schools and youth organizations to teach floral and event design. I hope to empower young individuals to pursue careers in these fields, offering them a positive alternative to other less desirable paths. I am driven by the desire to make a meaningful impact and to inspire others to reach their full potential.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
In my opinion, a great lunch spot in Atlanta is Hot Café, known for its authentic Laotian food. For a more upscale dining experience, Bacchanalia is a top choice. If you’re looking for casual options, Buford Highway offers a variety of great eateries. As for hangouts, I prefer places like Atlanta Worldwide Gallery, a hidden gem that showcases old Atlanta charm. I also enjoy spending time in nature, so a hike in North Georgia would be a perfect activity for us.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I am grateful for the support and guidance of God, my childhood mentors from the Boys and Girls Club in Salt Lake City, and the strong businesswomen in Utah who have influenced me, as well as my Floral Designer mentors here in Atlanta, my friends, family and daughter.
