We had the good fortune of connecting with Shell Ramirez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shell, why did you pursue a creative career?
Avoiding who you are does not create a happy person. I enjoying creating environments for and with the kids to tell the story. Having the environment I wanted as a kid! Using the Reggio playbook to develop musical theatre differently! See the whole person and communicate is key! That is why I love directing Children’s Musical Theatre

What should our readers know about your business?
Decatur Community Players a space created for kids to tell the stories musically. We provide after-school , summer camp,and performance classes for all different ages.
Our space is set up for kids to run the show!

Our space is designed to create wonder from the moment you enter put lobby. We have the whole space set to encourage imagination from Patents and Kids.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Decatur has a great bowling Alley!
Comet Bowling Alley! Love that place. Also love Oakhurst Mezcalito’s is the best!
I love to hang out in Avondale Estates! From Skips amazing hot dogs, to My Parents Basement, and Creamalosa for dessert.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Melissa Gouinlock my rock at Decatur Community Players!! She has helped me to be a better a human and enriched my life beyond what any friend should. My support also includes all my Partner in Life Jeff and all my Dog Park friends.

I also have the most amazing Parents at DCP. They are open and kind! Which means DCP kids are pretty awesome!
