We had the good fortune of connecting with Dorothy Andreas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dorothy, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Early in my career, I was intensely focused on making money, learning how to grow a business, and overcoming my own insecurities. At the time, I thought success meant working harder and longer.

As I got married and raised children, I realized that approach came at a cost. My health, sleep, joy, and family life were suffering because I was constantly pushing myself. I eventually recognized that much of my drive came from a desire to prove I was smart enough, successful enough, and worthy.

That realization led me to rethink how I defined balance. I created a simple framework that helped me evaluate five key areas of my life: physical health and environment, relationships, spirituality and faith, career and learning, and financial well-being. By intentionally investing in all five areas, I gained greater clarity, balance, and control.

Over time, I identified my blind spots, addressed what I had been avoiding, and learned to delegate more effectively. As a result, I created more space for my family and the things that matter most.

Today, I view work-life balance less as a destination and more as a daily practice. I’ve learned that I am ultimately responsible for how I manage my time, energy, stress, and joy, and that true success comes from building a life that is sustainable as well as successful.

What should our readers know about your business?
What I do today was never part of my original plan. I assumed I would build my businesses, work until 60, and retire. That trajectory changed when I became involved with a global professional organization more than thirty years ago.
Being elected as the organization’s first female president challenged me to develop new leadership skills, manage my time more effectively, and think on a much larger scale. The confidence I gained through service and leadership transformed every area of my life. I became committed to making every hour count and creating systems that allowed my businesses to grow without requiring my constant involvement.
As opportunities to speak at universities and business conferences emerged, I discovered how rewarding it was to help others grow. In 2019, I published my first book, Streamline Success, and began formally coaching entrepreneurs on scaling their businesses through systems, delegation, and mindset. During the pandemic, I released Conflict Revelation, followed by Build A Million Dollar Beauty Business in 2023, an A-to-Z guide for service-based business owners. I am currently completing my fourth book, Money Mindset Moves.
Over the past five years, I sold my remaining businesses to focus full-time on coaching, speaking, writing, and leading groups of growth-minded entrepreneurs who want to build profitable businesses while creating fulfilling lives.
Having employed more than 1,000 people throughout my career, I have had a front-row seat to human behavior, leadership, and personal growth. I became fascinated by what causes some individuals to thrive while others struggle under similar circumstances. That curiosity continues to shape my work today.
Early in my career, I often felt as though I was simply trying to keep my head above water. Learning to create balance, build systems, and lead intentionally changed everything. Today, I have the privilege of working with highly committed individuals who strive for excellence in both business and life. For me, it no longer feels like work—it feels like purpose.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Leaving the airport, I would do a tour of Olympic Park. From there, the Georgia Aquarium, one of the best our country has. On to the High Museum for an afternoon, before a wonderful dinner at Canoe. If my guests like burgers, we have so many fabulous options to choose from, we might create a burger competition. For sailors, the Flying Scot fleet at Lake Lanier is excellent, with races and Regatta’s every weekend. For the most relaxing weekend I’d head out to Lake Oconee, stay at the Ritz Carlton, golf at one of Reynolds 7 world-class courses, and enjoy the magnificent homes one can see from a boat ride.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Over the years I had many mentors, coaches, groups memberships and levels of support. The list is long. The most important part is that I was able to ask trusted people the questions that moved the needle both personally and professionally. For many years I felt a sense of disappointment that my father never supported me or offered words of encouragement. Today, I thank him for making me strong, a survivor who learned where to go for help. Had things been different between us, I would not have been forced to figure things out. From this, I gained confidence that I might never have known. That aside, I am grateful to my two sons. They spent their lives, as entrepreneurial families often do, helping to grow the businesses. Today, I am so thankful to both of them for the good choices they make. This is a gift to any parent. I feel blessed and fortunate, they are my rock.
