We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Hanson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sarah, what do you want your legacy to be?
I want my legacy to revolve around how I have made the couples, families, and individuals I serve feel. I believe one of the post important parts of being a business owner and photographer is how you serve your clients. Of course, delivering beautiful images is so important; but my goal is to also make everyone I serve feel comfortable, beautiful/handsome, and free to be themselves even though I have a camera pointed at them. I always take the time to get to know my clients and really understand what makes them tick. This is so I can authentically capture who they are in a way that is carefree and genuine. I hope that I am remembered by how I made them feel during their time with me. I also want my clients to look at their pictures years from now and remember how much they adore the people in the images.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I feel that what sets my photography apart from others is my hunger for capturing genuine connection. I strive for real emotions from my clients no matter what type of session it is so my images are real and emotion provoking, not only for the people in the image but others that see them too. I am very proud of my ability to do that and my love for people. I have a psychology background and with that knowledge I am able to genuinely connect with anyone I work with. I love being able to have those connections on a deeper level and give images that clients love forever. Of course, it took time to get where I am now with my photography business. Building a dream from scratch is hard! It takes time, money, and a lot of patience. The biggest challenge of all is mindset. In order to grow, you have to set your mind to it and commit. There were so many times I wanted to give up but in those dark moments, I just kept reminding myself why I was pursuing this dream and how amazing it will be one day. Of course, I still have a long way to go but I am so proud of myself for how far I have come.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Some of the best places in the city, in my opinion, involve good food and great scenery! My favorite spot is the belt line! It has so many great restaurants, bars, views, and is dog friendly! You can also access Ponce City Market from there which has some great shopping and restaurants too!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There so are many people that have helped me and shaped me into the person I am today. Specifically with photography, I cannot thank my husband and family enough for giving me the courage to take the leap into pursuing my dreams. I couldn’t have done it without their support. I also have some amazing friends that let me practice on them with endless photoshoots and always encouraged me to keep going when I would get discouraged or frustrated. Owning your own business can be very challenging and scary but with the right support system anything is possible!
