We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Aderson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sarah, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
My concept of balance changed once I became a mom while working in corporate America. I struggled with mom-guilt every morning I had to drop my son off at daycare or when I had to work late. I used to think that balance was all about multi-tasking and having it all together. Boy did motherhood change that misconception! I quickly learned that I didn’t have it all together and I was doing a horrible job at multi-tasking. The pressure I put on myself was slowly stripping away my confidence. My definition of balance simply wasn’t working for me, so I scrapped it. I spent some time reflecting and realized that everything in my life wasn’t equal as the word balance implied. I chose to seek harmony instead. This term resonated with me on every level and felt good to my soul. It made space for me to be imperfect and not stress out about the pile of laundry that needed to be folded. On the other hand, it allowed me to joyfully prioritize what mattered most – my happiness and my family’s wellbeing. Ultimately, this mindset shift led me to leave my unfulfilling job and start my own business.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Expand Your Heart is a product development and marketing consulting company. We empower entrepreneurs to charge their worth! We do that by helping you to create a product funnel with both digital and physical products. We specialize in developing lead magnets and low-content products for service-based businesses. Lead magnets allow small businesses to stop chasing clients. Something as simple as a free checklist or audio can help you to build your email list and create a pool of your ideal customers. So many business owners are constantly trading time for money and it’s preventing them from fully experiencing the entrepreneurial freedom that they seek. Creating professional products like, journals, online courses, coloring books, planners, allow small business owners to reach more people and generate income.
Expand Your Heart is known for teaching entrepreneurs how to work once and profit forever through product development. I’m most proud of the fact that Expand Your Heart helps entrepreneurs to build an empire that will leave a lasting legacy and provide for their families for generations to come. I think what sets us apart from others is that we truly believe that when our clients succeed, we all succeed. Also, we understand what drives and motivates our clients. This gives us an added insight into how to best transform their services into products.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my bestie was visiting the area I’d have to take her to a couple of tourist attractions and some of my favorite spots:
SkyView Atlanta – You can’t come to Atlanta without experiencing the ferris wheel
Atlanta Botanical Garden – A great scenic tourist attraction with fun events
Slutty Vegan – Tasty vegan food and we’d be supporting a Black owned business
Ponce City Market – Everything’s in one spot with the rooftop amusement park and tons of restaurants
City Winery – Good wine and live music
Apache Cafe – Listen to spoken word artists and musicians
Sweet Hut Bakery & Cafe – Grab some treats and boba milk tea
Kremo – Enjoy delicious hand-rolled gourmet ice cream
Brklyn Kitchen & Lounge – Try the amazing oxtail pizza and stay out late because they’re open until 6am
Cru Lounge – Nighttime fun and hookah
Amicalola Falls State Park – Great for hiking and has a beautiful waterfall
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to my sister circle! Your support, advice, purchases, and love mean everything to me. I’m truly grateful that we get to share this beautiful journey together. Thank you a million times over!
