We had the good fortune of connecting with Samari Evans and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Samari, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My mother gave me the idea to start my business. I began making a pain relief balm (now Soothing Cream) for family and friends. And I started to get really good reviews so she gave me the initial idea to start it

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I own a total of three companies all under the same umbrella. Essential Herb & Wellness is my body care , skincare , health and wellness brand. Where I focus on creating natural products that are solutions to common body, skin and health problems. I firmly believe that before there were mass produce chemical filled products on the shelves there were natural products for us to use and I would like to get back to that. I have a make up company S.E. Cosmetics that creates natural on trend cosmetics. I also have a wholesale & private label company by the name of Essential Solutions were I create custom products for other companies. My overall goal was to use my chemistry background to gain an understanding about the products that are provided to us and create a natural alternative to them. My biggest challenge so far is getting customers to unlearn what they’ve been taught and what they’re accustomed to.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m personally a big foodies so a fun day with me is mainly centered around food and a little shopping. A day with me would start off with breakfast and coffee from my favorite cafe Lavender & Honey Kitchen ( I love their Cinnamon Rolls), we’d do a little shopping I love thrift stores, Antique shops or small boutiques, we’d have lunch downtown at Bailey park. I love the water fall and theirs always a new food truck and entertainment there. And later on in the day we can explore some of the mom & pop crafting shops . I’ve developed an interest in pottery and painting classes here lately. I’m attempting to explore my creative side a little more.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mother Sherrie Jefferson is the person who pushed me in the right direction and encouraged me to start making my products. If she didn’t I would’ve been working in someone’s lab doing a job I didn’t love.
