We had the good fortune of connecting with Ronald Wilson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ronald, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My decision to start my own business came from seeing a consistent gap between creativity and intention. I’ve always worked in environments where people were talented and passionate, but the experiences being offered didn’t always match the level of care, storytelling, or execution that I felt was possible. I wanted to build something that was thoughtful, elevated, and rooted in purpose rather than trends.

With Baroma Parfum Bar, the idea was to create an experience that felt personal and meaningful. Fragrance is emotional and memorable, yet many fragrance bars were becoming rushed or DIY without much guidance. I wanted to slow the process down, educate guests, and deliver a custom parfum that was wearable and balanced—not just a novelty item. That led to building Atlanta’s first mobile parfum bar centered on guided, custom fragrance creation.

More broadly, starting my own business was about ownership and accountability. I wanted to be responsible for the quality of the experience, the way clients were treated, and the legacy the brand creates in the community. Building something of my own allowed me to align creativity, service, and impact in a way that felt authentic and sustainable.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My career has been shaped by a deep commitment to creativity, intention, and building experiences that make people feel something. I’ve spent years working at the intersection of art, culture, and entrepreneurship, which ultimately led me to create brands like Baroma Parfum Bar and HitQuarters Studios. While one centers around fragrance and the other around music, both are built on the same foundation: craftsmanship, storytelling, and community.

What sets me apart is my focus on experience over trends. I don’t build businesses just to offer services—I design environments. With Baroma, that meant creating Atlanta’s first mobile parfum bar centered on guided, custom fragrance blending rather than DIY novelty. With HitQuarters Studios, it meant building a creative space where artists and communities could create, collaborate, and feel supported beyond just studio time. In both cases, the goal has always been to create something lasting, whether that’s a signature scent or a meaningful record.

Getting to where I am professionally was not easy. There was no straight line or overnight success. Much of my journey involved learning through trial, navigating uncertainty, and educating the market on the difference between surface-level experiences and intentional, well-crafted ones. Being early often meant being misunderstood, but staying aligned with my vision mattered more than immediate validation.

I overcame challenges by staying consistent, adaptable, and open to feedback without compromising my standards. I learned that setbacks are often redirection, that relationships matter more than transactions, and that quality creates longevity. Over time, that mindset built credibility, trust, and momentum.

What I’m most proud of is not just the businesses themselves, but the ecosystems they’ve created. I’m proud of the artists, clients, planners, and collaborators who’ve found value, opportunity, and inspiration through these spaces. I’m excited about continuing to expand experiences that merge scent, sound, and culture—while remaining rooted in intention and community.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend had a week in Atlanta and I wanted them to experience the city the right way, I’d focus on culture, creativity, food, and connection.

We’d start with great Southern food at Busy Bee Cafe, then explore the city’s energy through Downtown and the Atlanta BeltLine. One of the first stops would be Baroma Parfum Bar—because Atlanta is about experiences, and creating a custom scent is the perfect way to lock in memories from the trip.

Midweek would be about history and creativity. We’d visit the National Center for Civil and Human Rights, walk through the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historical Park, then spend time in neighborhoods like West End and Old Fourth Ward, where culture really lives.

Music would be essential, so I’d take them to HitQuarters Studios to experience Atlanta’s creative heartbeat firsthand, followed by a live show or session that night. We’d balance it out with nature at Piedmont Park, brunch, and long conversations.

Atlanta isn’t just about places—it’s about people. The creatives, entrepreneurs, and community builders are what make the city special. If you experience Atlanta with intention, it leaves a lasting impression—just like great music or a signature scent.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate this shoutout to the Atlanta creative community—the artists, entrepreneurs, event planners, collaborators, and supporters who believed in my vision early on. Building businesses like Baroma Parfum Bar and HitQuarters Studios has been deeply shaped by people who value creativity, craftsmanship, and intention, and who supported the idea of building experiences rather than just services.

I’m especially grateful for the mentors and peers who pushed me to think beyond trends and focus on quality, longevity, and impact. Their guidance helped me navigate entrepreneurship with purpose and stay grounded while building creative businesses in Atlanta’s fast-moving cultural landscape.

I also want to recognize the community-based creatives and organizations committed to using art, music, and culture as tools for connection and growth. Their encouragement, feedback, and belief played a major role in shaping my journey as an entrepreneur, and their influence deserves just as much credit as any milestone I’ve reached.
