Meet RoJay Armstead | Radio/TV Personality & Production Coordinator

We had the good fortune of connecting with RoJay Armstead and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi RoJay, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I believe just being professional and doing “good business” goes a long way. I feel that I have worked on my name and built my reputation around my character, so that old saying “treat people the way you want to be treated” will never grow old or be false. Clear communication and making sure the people I work for or hire for my productions are satisfied has always been the mission. Good energy always!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My show “The Love Offering” is currently the top rated show on Worship 94.5 FM in Huntsville, Alabama. My radio show is a blend of R&B, Inspiration and Gospel. I always aim to entertain my listeners with gems that mostly go unnoticed as well as the songs that make you feel good. I have always rooted for musical underdogs and I love being able to show love and spotlight artists that “popular” radio seems to overlook so they can be trendy. My musical director, ML6, trusts me to be on top of things and so far I have yet to disappoint her or the listeners.
I am excited that I get to share emotions through music with listeners daily and hope that I am exposing them to new voices as well as reminding them of classics. Thankfully, there hasn’t been many challenges since we launched my show and the station in 2020. The only pressure I have experienced has been the pressure I put on myself to be greater every day.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Huntsville is a growing city and there has been so much taking place almost daily. I have a special place in my heart for THE CAMP in Midcity because of the vibes, the drinks and definitely the live music. Fourth Quarter Revamp is one of my favorite night spots because the club owner Marc treats everyone like family and because of that connection, the staff and the patrons have all pretty much become family to each other as well. You can never go wrong with any spot that George owns either. I love his new restaurant called TRIO and of the several night life spots that he owns, I still love Envy the most. (Especially the nights my favorite DJ, Chief Rocka is mixing).
Some of my favorite places to eat is Baumhowers, MK Wings, G’s Country Kitchen and Texas Roadhouse. If I am not out in the city, I can be found hanging with friends at one of our houses to relax, converse and laugh.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I definitely would like to shout out my mom, Debbrah Darby, for always allowing me the freedom to challenge myself with new ventures at every turn. My grandparents Robert and Nancy Darby for always letting me know I was special even though I was NOT their only grandchild. And my group of friends who are just as creative and hardworking and love jumping in on projects with me to lighten my load.
