We had the good fortune of connecting with Rodney Iler and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rodney, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I pursed an artistic and creative career because I wanted to provide for others what wasn’t accessible to me. Not only am I a graphic designer but I am a recording gospel artist. As an artist, it’s hard to find affordable graphic designers that give quality work. So, I wanted to be a positive help to bridging that gap!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
It has not been an easy journey getting to where I am right now. From changing business services to, completely rebranding to, personal life struggles slowing me down to, getting so busy doing for everyone else that I’d forget about myself. A whole lot of different factors that should’ve made me give up but only just built stronger, which prepared me for where I am now! I am extremely proud to say that after 5 years of change, troubles, and confusion I have figured out the best way to run my graphic design business and manage being a successful recording artist. That comes in terms of professionalism, booking methods, social media influence, etc. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned with being an artist and a graphic designer is that commitment and excellence are key factors to your success. If you are not truly committed with goals and plans, which should be executed with excellence you will always end up failing. With both my business and my music ministry I want people to see that I’m here to help, in whatever way, form, or fashion that may come in, my ultimate goal is to help!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting the area, it’d be a must that we go to Six Flags. I would also want to take them to some of the main attractions of Downtown Atlanta. So, the Coca-Cola Factory, the Georgia Aquarium, and even the Atlanta Zoo! Our food choices for the week would have to be Waffle House, IHOP, Longhorns, Rays in the City, Old Lady Gang, and Juicy Crab. I love food so that list could go on and on but those are top priority!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shoutout my church Excel Church Worldwide for pushing me and helping me grow so much within the last few months. I definitely have to shoutout my mom for always supporting me and allowing me the space to do everything God has called me to do. My second to last shoutout goes to my elementary/middle school, Kilombo Academic and Cultural Institute laying my foundation in leadership. Without going to Kilombo I would have never known that I could be such an impactful leader. Of course, my last but surely not least shoutout goes out to everyone who continuously supports me in all of my endeavours. None of this would be possible without all of you guys support!
