We had the good fortune of connecting with Rockmyer Estes and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rockmyer, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
We take risk in everything we do. If you’re walking down the street you risk tripping or fall. If driving on your way to work, you risk getting into an accident. Save for your 401k, you run the risk of the market crashing and you lose everything like people did back in 1929.
Those are just the unfortunate risk. However, risk are suppose to be “calculated”, well thought out, and executed. That’s exactly what I did to get where I am today. I created a plan of action and took the necessary steps to make it happen.
So no matter what it is, there’s risk in “everything” we do.
Get over the thought of “what if” because there’s one thing that’s guaranteed if you become paralyze with fear and fail to act. Whatever you dream of being, achieving, and doing, it will never happen.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m an actor and writer by day but an entrepreneur by night. I got started kind of a late to the film industry although I always was involved in modeling and commercials acting.
I grew up in the Kansas City, MO. which is a beautiful city but surely has it’s disadvantages. Acting, entertainment, and film without a doubt is one of them. So like many artist that came before me, I had to “Get Out” (pun intended) hahaha.
After my family and I moving to Dallas, TX. then to Atlanta at the beginning of the pandemic.
There were little to no in-person studios open and everything was virtual. It was definitely a challenge, especially for a hands on person such as myself. But time passed and things started opening back up but it just wasn’t the same. But no matter what I was determined make it happen.
As an actor and writer, I’m fortunate enough to be able to be in front of and behind the camera. I, was able to join on to a very talented production team Silk White Productions as a Sound Engineer on The Transporter Season 1 and 2. and Assistant Director on Learning The Hard Way 3.
Also, a Assistant Director for a super cool Reality Show Pilot that’s currently being shopped to different television networks. The good news is that once it’s picked up which I’m very confident it will, I’m already confirmed and locked in to continue on as the show Assistant Director.
Working behind the camera allows me to see the whole field not just part of it. It also enables me to tap-in even more to help achieve and fulfill the writers vision.
A recent project I’m fortunate to be in front of the camera lens on is “Black Excellence Season 1 where I play the role of Kevin, releasing Fall 2022.
I’m also am in the middle of writing and creating a hot, new, and refreshing episodic series, beginning production in January 2023.
As a entrepreneur, I learned a lot through trial and error. But I eventually found my rhythm and it’s been go mode ever since.
Moving to Atlanta in 2020 has been nothing but a blessing. I’ve started three businesses:
CarTurn USA (www.carturnusa.com) a Turo host managing company.
I launched my own private label cigar brand “The Pursuit Cigar Co.”, and have my own premium, all natural, hand-rolled signature leaf called “Origin Natural Cigars”
The business I’m most proud of is my online trading education platform called “Wealth Street Global” (mywealthstreet.net). Where I provide students with tools, strategies, and resources to learn effective skills to trade the Forex market (full-time or part-time) and build a good financial future.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My family and friends normally visit during the summer. We go tubing down the Chattahoochee River, walk up Stone Mountain, Bar Vegan, and Cammie Cakes, The Battery, Ponce City Market, etc. We definitely got to find a roof top spot, and a lounge when the sun goes down.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to give glory to God because there would be no me.
