We had the good fortune of connecting with Renita Canady and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Renita, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I first started using hypnotherapy about 4 years ago, to help me feel less anxious while giving presentations at work. I was amazed by how fast hypnosis worked. I’d felt anxious my whole life and within weeks my anxious feelings were largely gone. I felt like a whole new person.
I learned self-hypnosis then used it to feel happier in my relationships and to have the confidence to go after and get a big promotion in my tech career.
I started telling everyone I knew about hypnotherapy. My experience was deeply transformative, I wanted everyone to benefit the way I had.
Then something happened in 2022 that changed the direction of my life.
Someone in my family suffered a major mental health crisis. I was devastated. It was one of the most frightening times of my life.
In addition to seeing mental health specialists and medical providers, I took my loved one to a hypnotherapist.
The combination of traditional medicine and hypnotherapy helped my family and I to quickly improve the situation. I felt so grateful for the help we received. It was a gift, and I knew then that I wanted to help others in the same way. I thought to myself that spending my time serving others as a medical support hypnotherapist would truly be a life well lived.
I started researching clinical hypnotherapy schools. I applied to one of the most prestigious hypnotherapy schools in the county, was accepted, and earned my certification last summer. I’ve been working with clients ever since.
What should our readers know about your business?
Hypnotherapy is not psychotherapy. It’s a self-development process that is about accessing profound levels of personal power and self-determination to achieve your goals. Often when a person tries to achieve new goals or make changes to her life, old limiting thoughts and beliefs get in the way. This misalignment can delay or even block her achievement causing frustration, stress, and low morale. Hypnotherapy is about upgrading your thoughts and beliefs in a targeted and intentional way that supports reaching the outcome you want more easily and naturally.
My clients have made amazing changes to their lives with the help of hypnotherapy including losing 40+ pounds, quickly healing medical conditions, having more success at work, and finding more peace and contentment in their lives.
I’m one of the top-trained clinical hypnotherapists in the country, completing 5 times more training than a typical US hypnotherapist. I completed my training at the prestigious Hypnotherapy Academy of America using the Integral Hypnotherapy methodology. Integral Hypnotherapy is the only hypnotherapy methodology whose efficacy has been validated in medical research funded by the National Institutes of Health.
Many high achievers throughout modern history – including Albert Einstein, Thomas Edison, Tigers Woods, Reese Witherspoon, Jackie Kennedy Onassis, and numerous others – have benefited from using hypnosis.
As one of the only certified medical support hypnotherapists in Georgia, I’m on a mission to make clinically validated hypnotherapy accessible to everyone.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’d make excursions to the scenic parks central to our itinerary. Arabia Mountain National Heritage Area and Sweetwater Creek are two of my favorites. We’d spend a day at each, wandering the various trails. For our morning meals, I’d take them to Petit Chou or First Watch. Or perhaps use the visit as an opportunity to try out The Breakfast Boys. A day at Jeju would be on the docket, as much for the food as the crystal room. For some relaxation and pampering a bit closer to home, I’d take my guest to iwi Fresh and the Oasis Spa. For dinner, I’d want my bestie to experience Ginya Izakaya and Desta Ethiopian Kitchen. And finally Wine Shoe and Beer Girl Hapeville for provisions
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I dedicate my shoutout to a book I first read in 2019. The War of Art by Steven Pressfield. Reading this book, I felt there was finally someone who understood me. To me, Pressfield is a kindred spirit and the first person I ever heard call out clearly the internal foe that all artists and entrepreneurs face in their drive to create. It made me feel less alone and less damaged. I used it as a call to action, to reach higher levels of self-mastery and personal power through the pursuit of my craft and expression of my creativity.
