We had the good fortune of connecting with Renea Ash and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Renea, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success as a photographer is solving problems the client doesn’t know they have. These problems are often identified during the discovery call where they indicate the purpose for the photos which sometimes doesn’t line up with the type of photoshoot they are seeking. For example, I had a client interested in headshots but based on how the photos would be used, a headshot session would not solve the problem. By educating the client on options that aligned with the intended goal, the client was able to make an informed decision that met their desired purpose for the photos. Clients don’t know what they don’t know, so it’s my job to help by alleviating any anxiety associated with getting professional photos taken.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Hi, I am Renea Ash, owner of Renea Ash Photography serving metro Atlanta. My focus is on family photos, grad photos and headshots for business professionals. What sets me apart is providing every client with a boutique experience. This means that clients receive personalized guidance throughout the whole process. Starting with locations matched to the client’s personality and objective for the photos. Then help with style guidance for the best look. Followed with best practices for a successful session. With constant communication, my clients know exactly what to expect and when. I am especially most proud when providing a boutique experience to women over 50. We make a day of it starting with a glam session, followed by the photo shoot then wrap up with wine, fruit, cheese and crackers. I love doing this because I believe that everyone deserves an over-the-top experience.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite things to do when friends come into town are: First, I like to set the tone with a nice meal at one of my favorite restaurants, Seasons 52. The ambiance is sophisticated, and they serve the best Chilean Sea Bass. Next, we’d spend a day at the National Center for Civil & Human Rights topped off with a stop to the King Center. You haven’t been to Atlanta if you miss these two attractions. Of course, I always include a day of shopping cause a girl loves to shop. For the reminder of the visit, we’re hanging out at the house reminiscing and watching the latest Netflix movies.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are two people I’d like to shoutout that were instrumental in my success as an Atlanta photographer. The first is Michael Parks of Daystar Photography. His mentorship and direction have opened doors that I could not have entered on my own. Second is the Tomayia Colvin Education community. This business-oriented community took my business beyond the technical aspect of being a photographer and exposed me to the tools and processes necessary to run a successful photography business.
