We had the good fortune of connecting with Raquel Acuña and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Raquel, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I am a stay home MOM. So I thought that will be nice to have a activities that I can help my house financially and for my kids understand the importance to have responsibilities and how that everybody can help in some way the house.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
When I first thought about creating PandyScrap it was more like something to keep my mind active and have something that would support me psychologically and consequently financially. But the finance was never the crucial point. After starting and gradually having customers and people started to accept my vision and the ideas of my work. When they asked me: “Can you do this?” I said, almost anything is possible. I like to create something customized for you, just the way you imagined it would be. I think having this vision and wanting to really understand what your client wants is what makes your work different and special. Besides, I love it and it’s therapeutic to make toppers and party decorations.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in Cleveland area so first I will for sure take him/her to lake Erie and area around. The Pier have a beautiful view from the lake, the amazing sunset and more around.
We have another place called Charing Falls where we found a waterfall and a lot of green areas to picnic and relaxing. We can find amazing restaurants and ice cream places to visit too.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I always had loved decorations and parties and all this cute little stuff. But I have a friend that introduce me to this fascinating world of possibilities in decorations, her name is Daiane Colnaghi. She also works for a period of time with decorations and she shows me how many imaginable options we have in this segment.
