Meet Quintesia Jones | Pastry Chef

We had the good fortune of connecting with Quintesia Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Quintesia, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success would be my ability to accept criticism. I’m a self-taught baker and believe there’s always room for improvement no matter how successful you’ve become. In business, building your brand and pleasing your clientele go hand in hand; we must listen to the customers to ensure quality products are being delivered because satisfaction is key. It’s also important to remember that although you may have done your absolute best, we are human, we’re not perfect, and teachable moments happen.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As a teenager, art in the form of drawing, painting, and poetry were outlets for me. In 2018, I decided to test my artistic talent with a little baking and the results were amazing. I fell in love with how limitless artistic expression is through baking and decided to invest in myself and explore all there was to offer. I believe being self-taught, having a great eye for detail, providing my clients with a unique experience, and not becoming intimidated by the work of others is what sets me apart from everyone else. Building my brand & creating quality products which appeal to each of my customers’ needs has been a very challenging process; however, I’m grateful for the experiences because we cannot learn without trial & error. I spend a lot of time practicing designs, watching video tutorials, creating/editing recipe’s and researching new services to add to my business. I am most excited to bring my vision to life by perfecting my craft and expanding my business both throughout & beyond Georgia.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My favorite places to visit for fun & games in Atlanta are The Painted Duck, Main Event & The Roof at Ponce City Market. A few other cool attractions include Top Golf, The Painted Pin & Bowlero. I love them because they don’t break the bank yet, they keep you entertained for hours.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a huge thanks to my mom, dad, brothers & sisters for encouraging and supporting me without hesitation. My family and friends have also poured endless amounts of love into me and my business and I couldn’t be more thankful. I have an amazing support team and their faith in me and the success of Surprise Me Pastry has never wavered.
