We had the good fortune of connecting with Princess Heirsmac-Akinjogunla and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Princess, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Growing up, I loved attending weddings and looking at the beautiful wedding outfits. Wedding ceremonies always created an opportunity for my mother and I to tailor new outfits to attend these parties so it really sparked my interest in wedding outfits. I started to create, buy and sell bridal pieces on the side in 2012 which was known as Elarosefashions.
Years later, my husband and family encouraged me to launch out into the business, seeing how passionate I was about dressing brides, and looking at my creative designs. My husband supported me financially and by God’s grace, and the leap of faith we started the business – Elarosesweetweddings.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am most proud of the fact that I built my own company from the ground up with the help of my husband and support of my family. Growing up, I was surrounded by hard working family members. My mom owned her own business. After college I started Elarosefashions whilst in Aberdeen United Kingdom and took odd jobs to keep it moving. It’s not been an easy road, but I’ve stuck with it and continued to grow and expand more. Now the business employs over 20 individuals from bridal consultants to tailors to bridal stylists and the desire to continue to grow and achieve that has kept me pushing on days when it feels like we should give up.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am a very private person and rarely go out. If I am not working, I am spending time with my family and kids, taking courses to learn more about design and business. I do not have a lot of friends however I am able to look up nice restaurants in the area to go to dinner or watch a movie.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to give a shout out to God because He is the one that has blessed my mind, my hands and given me the talent to design these beautiful pieces that people can wear as they stand before Him and their family & friends in Holy Matrimony.
I would also like to shout out my husband for his continuous support physically, mentally and financially, believing in me even when I did not see the full picture, and putting in his personal resources to see me flourish.
I would finally like to shout out to my mother, who inspired the fashion designer in me from when I was young. She did not stop me from drawing, sketching, buying baby dolls and sewing for them. Thank you Mom!
