We had the good fortune of connecting with Prince Jarbo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Prince, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
My favorite quote is by JFK: “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.” I like this quote because it enlightens me on why Project Change was founded and, most notably, my purpose. Project Change exists to eradicate the dependent mentality fostered in the Liberian youth, as many young people spend most of their lives asking what our nation can do for them, while few seek to rebuild our war-torn past.

I believe the quote encourages productivity rather than dependency. The quote empowers me (and all who seek empowerment) to know that I am (we are) part of the solution to our nation’s problems. The quote doesn’t entrust our nation’s future to foreigners but us. Simply put, the quote is a start to pledging a lifelong allegiance to rebuild and cement our nation’s legacy.

What should our readers know about your business?
Project Change is a youth-led nonprofit organization aiming to groom youth who will play critical roles in rebuilding a flourishing Liberian society. Our vision is similar to many other nonprofits, but our approach differs. We believe that genuinely grooming the youth to answer their societal callings requires more than just a few workshops.

For this reason, we have created a system that recruits teenagers and grooms them until their mid-twenties. At that point, they are released from the organization to serve as representatives of change in society. Their success outside the organization is assured because of the years the organization spends preparing them to be problem solvers while instilling patriotic values in them, like the need to put the needs of our country before our own.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to thank my team for the commitment to Project Change’s vision. Their efforts inspire me to be a better leader and challenge myself in ways I’ve never imagined. To you all, I would like you to know that Project Change isn’t successful because of its great vision but because of those who drive the vision to reality every day. So thank you!
